Fantastic.
For me the only downside to the whole experience was the food, everything else was brilliant.
Having known the site from when much of it was an industrial wasteland, the transformation is amazing, I have never seen people photographing the flowers at any other sporting venue.

If the schools wont provide us with the FUTURE olympians we have to stand up and be counted - Encourage your child to take up a sport and back him all the way.

Tennis, running, football, rugby, swimming - A Playstation event does not appear to be in the London 2012 games.

Great point HS but this cuts at schools stinks and will put so many out of sport who cant afford to join clubs etc etc.

Anyone who is involved with any amateur sports club will tell you that there are two main obstacles to the succesful running of an amateur sports club and none of them are the kids themselves and both of them are the parents of the kids.

1. Getting money out of the parents for subs or kit or club trips, most seem to think that they should be free.
2. Getting those parents to help around the club, even just to clear the table that they have just vacated, getting them to help with training nights is like asking for the moon, most seem to think its not their problem, some think that the ones who do get involved actually get paid to do it and so its definitely not their problem.

Retuning the attitudes of the parents who themselves were brought up in an era of "self" and not "community" is the biggest obstacle to running a succesful amatuer sports club.

3. Keeping them quiet on the sidelines when they do show up.

My brother coaches RU at junior level and of course they also have to ref at that level too, his solution to gobby parents having a go at him or the kids is to blow the whistle, stop the game and then walk over to the guilty party, hand them the whistle, wave them onto the pitch and not say a word to them - no-one has yet taken up the invitation, all have shut up

It does take some balls sometimes though.

Give it time.

If getting a horse to prance about on tip-toes while wearing a posh coat is in the Olympics then I can't see why Grand Theft Auto shouldn't be.

Tis always the way with the parents unfortunately.
