Supposedly getting mony for two players going out , including one who they don't need and is currently on loan. Then signing a payer who is OOC and can start in June who could potentially be a good player. Seems a good deal to me.

| Powell is probably a bit of a risk for Wigan, given that he won't be cheap and has never played the game before. But, he's a big, powerful ball carrier and a decent athlete for his size. So it is a risk that could pay off.
Past his prime, obviously, or he wouldn't be leaving RU now. But not so far past his best to be seen as past it, and who knows what a new challenge might do for him. He isn't that old.

| The value of Wigan's recent decisions is commensurate with the quantum of silverware they have won recently.

To make sure he's a hit Harris will sort his contact development out:
"There is grappling and wrestling to adapt to but it shouldn't take me long to pick that up," said Powell. "Iestyn is going to help me out quite a bit."

He should give Leon Pryce a call, he loves a good grapple.

| Rejoice 32-year-olds with no rugby league background, a history of unprofessional off-field behaviour and two reconstructed shoulders everywhere.
There's always a home for you at Wigan.

It's alright. When his p***ed up excursion down the M4 in a golf buggy was mentioned he reasonable pointed out that "everyone has done it."
If by "everyone" you mean him and Jonny Knoxville, you might have a point.

| This move does seem rather desperate & unnecessary when you look at the quality of the young props coming through at Wigan even taking account of the loss of Mossop & Hock.
Seems to me that Harris has been nobbling Lenegan to beef up the Welsh front row rather than something that Wigan truly need.
RoguesG will no doubt out me right on this.

| Just read an article regarding the signing of Powell from the Wigan chairman. He basically says that the signing of Powell is a "marquee signing for RL" as before traffic was all league players going to RU.
A bit over egging it IMO. Don't think he is a bad signing. It's a gamble but let's be honest union has come and dipped into league to take some of our young prospects with the odd exception, to me signing a 31 yr old with off field issues isn't a marquee moment for the game. Signing a Ben Foden or tuilangi would be but not Powell

If I was a Wigan fan I'd be very alarmed at the amount of players who've left since the announcement that Shaun Wane would be appointed head coach, and during his subsequent reign.
Quite how they are all so positive about the latest news, and subsequent properganda, is beyond me.

So do we still have to reduce the number of teams in the league or were people just over reacting to a rumour.

We have to reduce the number of teams and change the format, regardless. The game here is on it's arris.
