Good God no!
We are already too slow in the halves without putting a carthorse in there. Send him back to the Championship that's his maximum potential.

| Quote: Juan Cornetto "Change the record Tad. We know you don't like Mac but really yesterday was down to some poor performances from the players. Our game plan was working ok for the first 30 minutes as we ran at Kelly and kicked to their dangerous running winger which kept both out of the game.
Hull hit a rich seem of form but everything went for them too, including getting away with a forward pass try and an obstruction on Briscoe that led to a try. Soft tries came from basic errors from Mullally, who let Kelly in and a missed tackle and a poor kick both from Watkins resulting in two further tries. The coach should not be blamed for any of these.
The game was not lost by the coach but by Hull being better on the day and it is disrespectful to Hull to say otherwise. Of course I am disappointed that we under-performed but that is sport, but for you and others to lambast our coach when we are second in the league entering the super 8s shows a lack of fair judgement. Perhaps you should stick with your simple round ball game'"
I guess that's about the best we can hope for from BMD's "masterclass of attacking plans". Three tries from kicks, not once looking like we might prise open gaps in their defensive line with classy attacking play/options. Would someone PLEASE PLEASE tell me just what is BMD's attacking philosophy/plans/structure?
EDIT: I do remember the excellent attack in the 1st half from our own half on the 5th tackle. Please, BMD sycophants & apologists, do not try to tell me that BMD engineered that!

| Same issues as last few years.
No organising/general/ in field kicker at 7.
No eexplosive/ attacking back rowers
Add that to poor or bizarre bench/ sub use, the flogging of older or injured players doing big minutes, no direction, no plan for opposition 20, little to no ability to get good early ball to outside backs, virtually no kicking game .

| Hull played well yesterday, our best performance in quite some time. As another poster alluded to the thing that surprised me from the Hull end when the score was, I think, 25-12 but plenty of time to go and we'd drilled a deep kick into the corner. Golding was the only Leeds player trying to form the scrum quickly and looked a bit narked that the raft of senior players were sort of trudging back - the body language surprised me for a team that's had the opposite of this as its USP for several years. Just an observation.

| I would just keep it as it is.
Golding will be as good as Hardaker one day, Briscoe will come good again, I think.
Anyone can put a few pounds on don't blame Ferres. JJB will be able to go round again with Ablett to keep the memories of the olden generation alive and provide the leadership in the absence of Golden oldies Mags and Burrow. They're fit and well and want to go round again, so why not ?
and big Mac, ....hes bound to come good again, just needs time. All Super league know you just need time. Keep it exactly as it is. Please.

| Think that Leeds fans are just going to need to do some re-calibration of their expectations over the coming seasons. You’ve come to the end of the most successful period in your history. It’s highly unlikely that you could keep on winning SL titles indefinitely. However it’s not all doom and gloom. You’re still a top 4 side at the moment.
I’d be surprised if that remains the case for long without some reinforcement. A lot of players that have left or who will be leaving are winners who have a winning attitude. The younger players will need to develop that and there will be some bumps along the way. You’ll need to recruit some proven players to provide leadership like you did in the past when signing the likes of Harris, Ellis and Peacock.

The re-calibration of expectations was done at the end of 2015, and your last paragraph is exactly what has been called for since then. Unfortunatley, the set up doesn't act in the right manner to do that, but had they done then the expectations would be about right now going forward.

| Hetherington's no idiot so I'm sure he's as aware of the shortcomings of the squad.
Recruitment from overseas is arguably more difficult what with the difference in cap and strength of the pound and only likely to get harder.
I'd expect Leeds to make domestic based signings if any.

The point was how you recruit. A proper plan would have had that transistion in place, instead of a wait and see. The much called about Junior development on here that never happened, but like you now say needs to happen. All this out of date, to a proactive management it would have been put in place previously.

I don't think we are a million miles off. winger to replace Briscoe, a controlling half back, prop and second rower.
I know we have a few props and second rowers but they are much of a muchness. no mongrel in there, no second rowers who run wide either.
4 players, the right players, and we won't be far off

Good points and you are right.
Personally i recalibrated by end of last year. This year has taken me a bit by surprised, we are not the second best side in SL imo but we find ourselves with a great unexpected opportunity still this year sitting in second place with a real chance of being one home win from OT.
Moving forward, while i don't think we will fall off a cliff i think it could be a little while before we contend for the trophies but i can accept that.

| theres no doubt saints and warringtons poor form, and wigans injuries have helped, in fact they've helped all the teams at the top, just as our injuries helped others last year. but you can only win your games and we have done that.
however this team has certainly exceeded my expectations.
I honestly had no idea where they would end up. anywhere between 9th and 3rd would have been my guess.
fair play to all concerned for finishing second.
however this is where the real work begins. I think we can reach old Trafford but I still think it will hard work, even given our points total. we've had four huge games this year and lost all 4. and for me its little things that need to change, a little bit smarter with and without the ball. a better kicking game.
