I get what your saying, there’s a different set of priorities depending on which pair of shoes you are stood in.
To me, integrity is about doing what you say you are going to do in an inclusive and fair way. People have different definitions of the same words.

I’d generally agree though I don’t think one definition applies the same in all situations.

| Quote: The Biffs Back "IMO it's obvious that Furner and Souths have been involved in dialogue well before this story even broke,
So both will know full well of the circumstances involved in this matter and at what point Furner would become head coach of Souths due to Seibold being removed from the role.
The silence today was deafening for the Rhinos club sadly due to the non denial of the story when it first broke over in OZ when it was clearly possible to do so.
IMO Furner is holding out for the conclusion of the Souths debacle to draw to a close so that he can hedge his bets and keep both options open.
If Furner doesn't fully commit to coaching the Rhinos by tomorrow morning our time then I would tell him to go get fffed and we should move on and decide on our next coaching options.'"
Whilst I don't disagree with the sentiment you can't just tell him to nobb off as there will be a contract in place.
At this point Furner has done nothing wrong (he's not done the right thing either in terms of quashing the rumours).

| Why do people go on about agar, he’s been appointed to an entirely different role.

| Furner may not have sent the signed contract back in which case he has not broken contract law.
In the absence of a denial of the rumours from Furner we should go with an alternative. The lack of commitment will not go down well in the dressing room.

| OTOH it may be that GH is correct and that DF's on his way. No harm whatsoever in letting the rumours run and keeping the club and the sport in the spotlight.

You can't seriously believe we have gone through all the media etc.. and we haven't actually got a signed contract from Furner? That is a ridiculous statement.
Furner is under no obligation to issue any statement to the press. Personally I would prefer it if he did buy just because he hasn't could be because of many reasons at this point.

| The issue is, if he's changed his mind and wants to wait until he knows about SSR job then he should say that an accept that rhinos can then choose to wait and see or move on.
Holding the club to ransom for your benefit is pretty crappy when there is no time to sign a decent replacement

Leeds were desperate to get some good news out regarding a new coach and if Furner's agent was still negotiating with his club it could well have been a case of 'the cheque is in the post'. GH's decision making has not exactly filled me with confidence in recent times so he could well have released the news in anticipation of a contract arriving to gain some season ticket sales. Anyway I was just raising the possibility of this senario in the absence of firm statements from both sides as if we have a signed contract with no get out clause then we could be much firmer and even take legal action.

| All that Dave Furner needs to do right now, is issue 'some kind of statement'....otherwise his silence will only fuel the rumours.

| It’s open season with shots fired at all rumours going.
But lots taking the opportunity to take a pop at GH, I thought KS was the director of rugby and chose the new coach.
If it goes wrong, it goes wrong, move on and get behind the club and whoever takes the reins.

| The potential NRL coaching merry-go-round is Bennett to the Tigers, Seibold to the Broncos, Cleary to the Panthers. That leaves Souths in the cold, which is why the rumour is of them looking to Furner to take over.
All of this could happen, or it could all fall in a heap. Its a huge leap for Seibold to go to the Broncos, as replacing Bennett comes with huge expectations and the potential risk of your reputation being smashed as a result of not coming up to scratch, and he has a long-term contract at Souths on the table. There's also no guarantee the Tigers will release Cleary (as an aside I'm not sure why the Panthers are so obsessed with him as coach except for keeping Nathan happy).
Regardless, if it happens then we shouldn't try to force Furner to come to Leeds. Accept it, act professionally and move on. Demetriou would be my next choice, as he's very highly rated at the Broncos. Apparently Seibold has until next Wednesday to decide if he wants to stay with Souths, so we could be kept waiting until then.

Furner has issued this statement today in the Australian Newspaper- quote:
" There has been no approach(from Souths)and I was surprised to see that there were suggestions I was the coach there for the following year(2020) when my commitment is to Leeds.
My goal is to get back to being a head coach. I have ticked that off by going to Leeds. I have a great relationship there with Kevin Sinfield and Gary(Hetherington).
I would love to grab success there and I am looking forward to going back and being a head coach again . This is what my excitement is all about."
