| Quote: Peter Kingsley "He's actually not really been the same player since 2006. At the start of the season he was shredding it up, he was ripping through defence like a young centre.
Then he transferred to wigan, had a barnstorming first game and then descended into bog standardness.'"
To be fair to Fielden didn't one of his parents become ill and pass away that year? And then I do think the Mason thing really affected him. I think it knocked his confidence and other players weren't as wary of him, then he's had a few bad injuries as well. It's a shame because he used to be devastating and would have been vital for England/GB. An in-form Fielden alongside the likes of Morley, Peacock, Graham, Burgess, Ellis & Westwood would really have added to the team.

His mother, who watched all his games, died.
That, along with a run of injuries, I'd think was what caused the downturn in form.

| He definitely has it in him. if he puts his mind to it and avoids injuries I'm sure he could definitely do a job at SL level. Question is, is the motivation to do it still there.

Is this some sort of sick joke?

I seem to recall that part of it was that when he came around he had to be reminded of the fact that she had died. Thats some pretty bad stuff, and could make you look at the game a bit differently

| Fielden has signed for Huddersfield on a 2 year deal. Hope it goes well for him & he finds his pre Wigan form. I'm certain he still has plenty to offer. Any opportunity to laugh at the pies can't be missed though - £400k+ to sign him & a big chunk of their salary cap tied up in him each season. For very little in return!

| Good luck to him at Hudds, signing a 33 year old who hasn't played for 2 years is a massive gamble but he wasn't an average player to start with

| Good signing for Huddersfield should he stay fit.Glad we stayed away though. As has been said, not the same player since the Mason punch.
Interesting to note both players' careers took a nose dive following that incident. Both went into that series with a reputation as the top props in the game. Its as if the whole thing cursed both men.

I don't know if I agree with that - Mason went on to play for HKR!!

| Obviously it did not work out for him at Wigan. It puts into context our signing of Jamie Peacock , it was one of the best signings of all time and that includes the pre super league era. Also the signing of Sir Kev.
