| Quote: Harrigan "And the annoying thing about that was he was the leading try scorer in the NRL the season after. I went to see Brisbane vs The Roosters at the old ANZ and he was awesome. Deffinately not the player that played for us the year before.'"
To be fair he didn't look too bad when he was on the field, sadly that just didn't happen very often.

| I wonder how many Leeds players of recent times have won Man of the Series awards for the national team?

Did anyone rate him at Leeds?
He was a good player elsewhere, but I was never aware of anyone actually rating anything he did in the blue and amber. Except maybe the local publicans.

Since 2005 Burrow has been and remains to this day one of the best 7s in this country and one of Leeds most important players.

| Quote: Harrigan "Rob Burrow is the person I think is the most overrated player by the fans (and club)... he burst on the scene just as defences were starting to get better, but were still crap. As soon as SL caught up a bit and the lines stayed flat and solid he started to run around like a headless chicken throwing slow, off target, looping passes and killing overlaps for fun by running sideways for 5 metres and deciding to try and duck under a tackle, even though it is usually 3 on 1 on the outside. People see him running from side to side though and think he's good. If there was 1 player I would get rid of at Leeds, its him. I would bring in a good 6 and move McGuire to 7 as he is much better than Burrow and actually knows how to control and organise an attacking line. He knows when to hit the defensive line too, something which Burrow gets wrong time and time again.'"
Couldn't begin to agree with that. There are very few 7s in the northern hemisphere that I would swap him for, and that has been the case for at least 5 or 6 years. Of course this could just make me guilty of overrating him, but to me his achievements at the club dwarf those of any other 7 in the 20 or so years I've been watching Leeds for. As a game manager he's underrated if anything (certainly by you IMO) but as a game breaker he is one of Super League's best. Players in any position who are genuinely capable of scoring a try out of nothing are a rare and valuable commodity.

| I know i'm in the minority when it comes to Burrow but it doesnt change my opinions on him. For every 1 break he makes by ducking under a tackle he kills 10 overlaps by failing to duck under a tackle. He's one of the worst organisers in the league and the main time his short comings become apparent is when McGuire plays 7.
Also his "man of the series" came against probably the worst ever touring team to come over to these shores. Yes, the Kiwis are a very good team but as far as strength in depth goes they arent much stronger than us and the majority of players that came over would be average in the SL.

Actually I think that's a fair assessment. The problem with Burrow appears linked to his role in the team. The other key pivot players have carved out niches for themselves but Rob's game doesn't appear to have evolved much over the years. He started to show some form in the first two games this season but appears to have gone into his shell again (partly linked to the fortunes of the pack, perhaps?). The best I can remember him play was in 2005, when he was scoring a fair few tries and goals in McGuire and/or Sinfield's absence. But since then he's never really become such an integral part of the side as Webb, McGuire, Diskin/Buderus or Sinfield.
Hopefully we'll see more from him for the rest of the duration of McGuire's injury. Remember, according to Stevo, 'Burrow is back!'
