I know they are cracking down on late tackles but they are impossible to eradicate due to the nature of the game, please have some discretion and common sense when dealing with them on the pitch.
Watching an NRL game now and just given a yellow for throwing a punch, can't help feeling that you would get 6 games or more here for that'"
Mate, the Aussie fans and media have been really critical of the judiciary for a couple of years now. They're binning every man and his dog for hip drop tackles, contact with the head, and late hits. Tetevano gets a 4 week ban over there for what he did yesterday. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get at least 3 matches, especially given his record.

| The problem was the way he launched himself there was no way to pull out or adjust. He had zero control over the impact, which was always dependent on what Smith was doing the second he hit him. Put that sort of hit on a prop who's coming straight at you and it would be a tough play. Not a halfback who's looking to make a play.

It was a good piece and has unsettled me a bit, getting wise life advice from Matthew Shaw. Ouch.
Sorry if I missed it but does anyone know how young Toby Warren is?

| Salford's second half display today makes our first half display last night look like our second half display last night.

| Quote: Jamie101 "They had described the interception, just not the 20m celebration. Even being a Leeds fan, I would be happy if he tripped up the next time he does that and makes himself look a spanner. He definitely seems to have the ‘I’m all that’ attitude about him. A classic stumble and fall on his backside in a stadium full would be a great way to bring the ego down a bit.'"
I like a bit of arrogance. When coupled with skill and talent, it's not a bad thing for the sport. We're in the entertainment business, are we not?

Yep, he’s great, the fact he winds opposition fans up is an added bonus, nonissue with the celebration or any of that stuff, the one thing he does need to temper is gobbing off at the officials.
Him winding Farrell up last night was great!

| At times we are too impatient and try to score off every set. In the 1st half last night we tried some plays that were never on, instead of attempting a repeat set and keeping Wigan under pressure. I appreciate that is not Austins natural game but there are times we need someone to take control of the situation. Sneyd last week and Smith in the 1st half last night kept us pinned down with a class kicking game. Too often we have to kick from our own half but when we do get in the opposition 20 we panick, instead of keeping the pressure on.
Some great stuff in the 2nd half though. That's Wigan, Saints and Catalan beaten this season. On our day we can match it with anyone.

This is why the celebrating 20m out annoys me - it is just the opposite side of the same coin that makes him do and say things to the refs because he can’t understand however incredible he thinks he is, sometimes winding it in will help him achieve more.
He has great potential but hasn’t delivered it on a consistent basis without injury / suspension breaks over the last couple of years.
After 2-3 consistent years scoring / creating 20+ a year and playing most weeks, by all means do those things more - your status allows you a bit more scope for doing so.

Or that part of him, the confidence and even arrogance is what makes him the player he is or could be. To be fair to the lad he broke his leg and has some serious hamstring issues. When he plays we are a significantly better team and ever other side in the comp would love to have him in their team.
In terms of status, old school thinking that you need to be top of the tree to act like you are. Lots of younger players have that in them, I think it is often what makes them become the players they do.

He believes in himself and his ability. Confidence or arrogance, it's a fine line. Either is fine with me. Does he need to deliver, of course he does, but I really don't want to watch a game played by robots. Agree about winding his neck in with the officials, he won't win that battle and it will cost him and the team. If he was playing against us I'd probably have a different opinion. Either way it stirs up the emotions, which is why we love the sport, is it not?

| My view on RS has not changed even after last nights performance . Being analytical , our first half performance was dire - same old errors , no line speed , no pressure on kicker, slow start to match again etc etc . So RS had not addressed any of our constant failings and he was again unable to motivate the team. If we had been up against a clinical attack , the game would have been over before half time.
The game turned on 2 things - one was the Newman intercept before half time and the other was Tets sending off - that is what motivated that team last night - nothing else.
Both these had absolutely nothing to do with our coach - and as long as he thinks all NRL coaches and all Super League coaches are wrong , and he is right , we have all seen what we are going to see on the field and if you follow the team every week , its not good enough.

Who would you prefer as coach?
