| Quote Andy Gilder="Andy Gilder"Follow up questions:
How much was Lee Smith offered to stay at Leeds?
How much was Lee Smith offered to sign for Wasps?
How much are Leeds going to be paying Brett Delaney?
If you have genuinely accurate answers for all three then I'd be interested to hear them, given you're supposing Delaney is going to be on more than Smith wanted.'"
One things is for sure you are not going to swop sun and beach and the premier competition in RL for cold and wet UK and an inferior comp for the fun of it - I would be amazed if Delaney has been offered less than Leeds offered Lee Smith? Maybe the offer from Wasps dwarfed anything Leeds could realistically offer - but give the relative finances of both clubs I find that hard to accept.

Now you see, I'm never convinced by this sun and beach argument people (not just you) keep trotting out. I mean, I get bored of going to the beach after about 3 days, so by the time you've been there for 20+ years it's not actually inconceivable that some of the novelty will wear off. Considering how unappealing I'm required to believe that this country is, there seem to be alot of people from Australia quite keen to come and live here. And not just RL players either.

Unfortunately few people can choose where to live on the grounds of climate alone. My wife (Australian) and I (Bradfordian) would definitely prefer to live in Australia if it were possible for us to find work there. My wife moved here for her PhD because there were better job prospects than in Australia - not because she liked the weather! The quality of life in Australia is far superior though - better & healthier food, less spoiled environment, less social inequality and yes, better weather!

| I'd like a good proper change in the seasons. Hot summers, Ice cold winters, warm spring and crisp Autumns.
Not that you get that in Britain like, just wet, wet, wet (don'at anyone dare).

| Quote flipper="flipper"story isn't up yet from what i can see, but today's YEP mention he has missed three games in three years at the titans, and had a 100% appearance record this season (prior to weekend strain) for the club currently 3rd on the NRL 'ladder''" Get out. Your positive thinking isn't welcome around here!

Meh. Each to their own. I prefer to remain here on the whole. I suppose the fact that climate isn't the only deciding factor in where one lives was really part of my point. Living somewhere with nice weather but where you can't get a decent job doesn't do much for me. Besides, I actually like the British weather. I don't mind visiting other climate zones, but there aren't many places where you get the kind of variety you get in this country without the dangerous extremes some other places are prone to. My favourite weather of all is those really cold but clear days we seem to get a lot of in the winter round here. I'd miss them. The only places I've really found days to equal them have come with complications like dangerous altitude, lack of any form of settlement and several feet of snow during monsoon season.
Re: "Better and healthier food! I cook 95% of what I eat myself at home, as I would if I lived somewhere else. Not only do I therefore control its quality, but it is as healthy or not as I choose foer it to be.
Anyway, the point is that just becasue some people would prefer conditions in Australia it isn't reasonable to assume that everyone would. It is possible to enjoy living in this country.

I spend a fair bit if time in aus and I can't get some of my mates to the beach end of!! There are a few who love it but as you say many Aussies are over it by the time the are adults!! There is no doubt to me the life style is awesome out there, especially if you are living in a place like the gold coast!! and the nrl is the best comp by a mile!! So i can only see money been his main motivation! So no different from 99% of overseas signings
