Whoever gets 4th will play Wigan in week one won't they?

I would fancy us or Saints to beat Wigan, but Saints would be equally happy going to Wire, therefore I would say top 4 probably is important.

Because 4th gets a second shot if they lose week 1, 5th doesn't.

*That's if I've read the play off's correctly.

* Qualifying Play Off 1: 1st vs 4th (winner receives a bye to week three)
* Qualifying Play Off 2: 2nd vs 3rd (winner receives a bye to week three)

* Elimination Play Off 1: 5th vs 8th (loser goes out)
* Elimination Play Off 2: 6th vs 7th (loser goes out)

Week Two

* Preliminary Semi Final 1: Higher-ranked QPO Loser vs lower-ranked EPO Winner
* Preliminary Semi Final 2: Lower-ranked QPO Loser vs higher-ranked EPO Winner

Week Three

* Qualifying Semi Final 1: Higher-ranked QPO Winner vs PSF Winner of their choice*
* Qualifying Semi Final 2: Lower-ranked QPO Winner vs other PSF Winner *

Week Four

* Grand Final: QSF1 Winner vs QSF2 Winner

*Highest placed winner in week one have the right to choose their opponent from the two winners in week 2.

If we manage to finish top 4 then we can get to the Grand Final by only having to win once away from home. If we come 5th (or worse) we will need to win at least twice away from home (I think! icon_biggrin.gif ).

While I think that is a possibility we could make the GF from lower than 4th, finishing top 4 makes it much easier.

Don't Hull still have to play Wigan and Leeds at home and Warrington away? I'd say there's a decent possibility they could lose those three.

Yes and not only can they but you would expect them to. If there are no away wins before week 3 the danger is that week 3 just repeats week 1 and IMO that makes for a rubbish concept.

If that was the case there wouldn't be much point having a club call option if all the games went with home advantage in the opening two rounds.

i didn't think they couldn't pick both 2 & 4 that would only leave 3

but not being able to pick 4 would stop a repeat round of fixtures and give an advantage to being 4th rather than 3rd
