| Quote: Head High Tackle "I know there was a Gary Price who played for us (under Ward I thought) but for some reason last night I thought it was the other one who was there. Now I think about it, it was the one who played for us.
That was Gary Price the former York second-rower.
Gary H. Price played for Wakfield and Fev.
They played together in the same team at Featherstone, hence the Gary 'H'. Price.

Thus, wasn't it the GH Price that played for Leeds .... Moving on to Wakey / Fav after leaving Headingley ?

| Wayne Heron was one of my favourite players for Batley growing up, although he wasn't a patch on his brother. Loads of hard-work and a great tackler though.
We only managed to sign Dave from Bradford Northern when he was about 37, but he was still the best player on the pitch in most games he played for us.
There aren't many players around today that have even half the skill Dave possessed.

1157.jpg It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.:1157.jpg |

I've often wondered how Dave Heron would have gone on in todays game. He was all class at Loose Forward, and was no mean Stand Off either, outplaying the great Tony Myler at 6 on one memorable occasion.
Very talented player.

He was a modern player playing in a time of dinosaurs. Mick Adams, Harry Pinner etc., these were the guys he competed against. With the pace he had and his hands he would have been a real superstar of summer rugby. I'm just glad I got to watch him produce many moments of magic in an ordinary team.

One of my earliest memories of Heron was him cruising away from a flailing Maurice Richards at Salford.
Probably the fastest forward I've ever seen in his younger days.
I was shocked at how few of the line up I recognised last night (even with the help of Sky afterwards.) Gutted.
That said I don't look much like I did on the team photo shot on page 9 of last night's excellent programme either.

Fletcher: Course, he sees 'imself as an authority on curry, he does, on account of where he was stationed in the army.
Rudge: Where? India?
Fletcher: No, Bradford.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40413.jpg |
