In any business, boom-time CEOs can be very different to turnaround CEOs. Or turnaround CEOs of today are different to turnaround CROss of 20 years ago. If Leeds was a shareholder-responsible business Hetherington would have been out a month ago.

We all know that's not going to happen, but as said on another thread often coaches aren't sacked until the crowd starts calling for the head of the board not the coach. Maybe that's the way we ought to go if there's going to be any action.

He failed to succession plan but the club is disintegrating before his eyes and hes frozen in the headlights. No doubt he's drafting his next everything is alright email at the moment but if hes not clever enough to se that the side are falling apart under Mcdermott then he has to go as well. This week by week complete capitualation is more than just injuries or the flood theres something rotten at the club and putting your head in the sand and pretending its not happening is destroying the club. Time for Caddick to step up and hand out some P45s starting with Gawy and McDermott.

How any Leeds fan can say anything bad about Gary Hetherington and Paul Caddick i will never know.

We should be forever grateful they saved the club without taking into account the 7 titles, 3 wcc, 3 challenge cups, turning club from a debt ridden business to a 7 figure profit making company. They have also created the best sporting foundation in UK sport and built the Carnegie Stand.

Well said. We've been spoilt with the success we've had and the 2 guys right at the top have been paramount to it. This season is worse than any of us could have imagined. We knew it was going to be a tough one, but most would have looked at the squad at the start of the year and expected at least top 8. The fact is the squad hasn't been coached well.

If someone said to us at the start of 04 that in the next 12 years we'd win all the trophies we have, but this year we'd be struggling at the bottom, we'd have taken it. GH, despite the crap email will be working his off behind the scenes to fix this. I for one trust him to sort it out and get us back to the top.

McDermott needs to go though. Just don't know who would replace him

The last club would never have existed without him. Hetherington's genius was in creating it, getting it into the top flight and making money. That the people who followed him destroyed it fairly quickly just emphasises the point.

They'll know but unless they announce it in the Evening Post or in a press conference or e-mail then some fans are daft enough to think they aren't trying to do something.

A reality check is needed here - the board have done a brilliant job at Leeds - it is by far the best run club in SL. Do they get everything right no but they will get this right.

McDermott has increased his importance at the club on the back of the team's success and GH has given him too much responsibility to a point where replacing him is difficult. There are 2 options: sack him - difficult as the club don't have an internal candidate capable of holding the reins short term, a design feature of McDermott's structure. Alternatively clip his wings rework the coaching structure whereby the McDermott reports into a director of rugby.

Bringing Sinfield in as director of rugby would create an interesting dynamic which might see McDermott go as having to report into a previous subordinate might be something McDermott could not handle

One thing appears certain - McDermott isn't going to fall on his sword
