He was thrown in the deep end wasn't he. He played against Wigan away and we had 8 or 9 first teamers out. He went from playing amatuer rugby at centre to playing prop for the european champions away to the league leaders. A pretty huge step up.

Not exactly. He went from playing centre at amatuer to been the championship prop of the year, then to go as a sub for the champions. Plus that game at Wigan away there was plenty thrown in at the deep end, but I don't think any of the others looked quite as far out of their depth.
Does that mean he won't make it? doubt it. Does it mean we should write him off yet? again would be a bit early to do that.

Not being televised is it?
___________
A bit surprised to see he's due to play in this game given that a couple of days ago the YEP saidFour Leeds Rhinos players are facing surgery during the off-season in a bid to get them fully fit for the 2011 campaign. Coach Brian McClennan confirmed outside-back Lee Smith (ankle), hooker Matt Diskin (hernia), prop Kyle Amor (shoulder) and second-row Ian Kirke (ankle) will all have operations now the Rhinos' season is over.[/i
The game is for a good cause and I hope it is well attended.

| Ive not seen much of him so cant say too much.
But....
The bits Ive seen in both the 1st team and academy suggest he is a long way off the finished article but then thats not exactly a big shock is it.
Ive not been too impressed but you also have to keep in mind this dual registration aspect. In principle it allows younger fringe players to get some game time at lower league clubs which is good. The downside is that they are never all that settled as they can, and do, get pulled back by their main club at times which must be unsettleing.
I would be looking for a steady improvement over the next couple of years before deciding on if he has a real future at a top level club.

I suspect the last part of your post may well explain why some players want to play when they're not expected to - Shaun Lunt has expressed a desire to play for Cumbria IIRC despite McNamara not selecting Leeds or Huddersfield players for England.

| He certainly looked out of his depth the 1st 2 times but looked better against Quinns away apparently i think he needs more time and will get it.
It's a shame that he needs surgery because he was actually selected for Ireland in the nations fixtures and that experience would of done him the world of good as it did for Ambler when he 1st joined us.

| i think he will come good. he is a good player, and watching him alot at whitehaven for a few years, i have seen what he has to offer. when he played fir leeds he was in a weakened squad. i think he needs a chance when the team is at a decent strengh! i have every faith in him and thin in time he will be a great super league player!!

| Best forward on the pitch yesterday. If McBanana picks on form nobody from the England sqaud will be picked and Amor will be in the number 8 shirt.

| Amor has no chance of playing in the four nations, even more so as he needs surgery on a knock. But we are meant to be building towards the 2013 world cup.
Will Morley be around then? Doubt it
Will JP be around then? Doubt it.
Ellis? Maybe.
A lot of the England pack won't be around in 2013, McBanana needs to be blooding a few young'uns .

| He did play pretty well yesterday for Cumbria, I get the feeling that if he was given a few games in a row he might be able to shine for us.

That was the feeling at the start of last season. As it was he got thrown in there and had a couple of poor games. I saw a lot of him during this time at Whitehaven and thought he would slot straight into our squad and be a regular benchman. Hopefully he will kick on from his performance and archive that this time around.
