Ooops yep missed that bit. Although im sure due to his loyalty to the club over the years if he asked for a release they would grant it.

| He's 29 now. Signing him in 2009 would be a bad move.
However reading between the lines he could be off much sooner. No smoke without fire n all that.

| The contract is immaterial if the relationship has broken down between the club and the player someone has to go. Reading between the lines the club has to make a choice between the player and the coach. If the player goes then the highest bidder wins.

| I would love to see Buderus or Simpson at Leeds, although I'd be surprised if Newcastle let them go.
To me, this reads as a protest by certain players at Newcastle about the way Smith is dismantling the squad of homegrown Novacastrians. The Newcastle board would be stupid to let these two go after the recent retirement of Johns, so perhaps the players are trying to force the club into getting rid of Smith first. I imagine things will settle down when the players realise that they can not be allowed to run the team (sound familiar, maybe it is a Smith family thing ).
That said, if people think Brad Drew is good in his 30s, Buderus would be even better in SL - not sure if this is a Leeds signing though.

| Why would we need Buderus, when we have Matt Diskin.

| Diskin is finally re-discovering his 2004 form and has been superb in the last two games having a hand or foot in the majority of our tries.
How very whino fekkitted to start discussing replacing him now.

Haven't seen the last two games but have heard Diskin is returning to form. This is great news for Leeds if he can keep it up.
I think the recruitment priority has to be finding adequate back-up for Diskin. Ideally this would be an understudy coming through the ranks, or the signing of an impact hooker like Higham.
Not at all sure that either Tansey or Sinfield are up to it, and would prefer Gibson to fight for Senior's centre position when he gets fit.
Still, if Diskin's form deserts him again I would be more than happy to watch Danny Buderus play for Leeds whilst nurturing the next generation of hooking talent at the club.

The only thing you can rely on at Leeds is (a sizeable proportion) of their fans fickleness.
After a win: All's right with the world
After a loss: The world's about to end.

Agree his attacking plays have been excellent in the last two games - however his defence seems to really been effected by the operation - his lateral movement seems to have deserted him.
Matt was one of the best if not the best defender in SL before the operation he is some way below that standard right now.
I agree it is perhaps better to wait and see if he can continue to perform at the level he has been recently or whether this has been a blip.
I still think we need another big prop in the Fozzard mould?

I'm willing to leave the props for next year and see what Bluey can get out of them, especially Bailey and Scruton. Any new signings could see at least one of them leaving and I reckon they've both got the potential to come back and haunt us.
