| Ref was awful last night. Wigan score immediately after Bullock illegally moved 2-3m off the mark for the Hardaker try, and then same again with Mellor's supposedly incorrect PTB while he was injured. There was one blatant ball steal that we managed to get away with, but most of the calls went Wigan's way - esp. with high shots. Shorrocks got away with a couple of blatant ones before he finally got pinged.
We're simply missing a bit of strike out wide and a half-back to get the ball there. Great effort from the young kids and the likes of Oledski and Prior. Broadbent confident but his positional game at FB was exposed a few times and that cost us points. Leeming looked very sharp when on (IMO), I'm not sure the criticism of him is so justified. Dwyer was more effectively dealt with this time.
I thought Tom Briscoe finally showed why he was the only first choice back playing. Sadly, the rest of the team should have been there to support when he made the break.

| Of course, the big unknown is how proficient our attack will be when we do get the bodies back. Poor last plays are nowt new for us and we've often ended up in close games we really should have strolled. So while the pack, the kids, the defence have been great it's far from a done deal that all will be roses just as soon as we're at strength

Mellor wasn't exactly lying down he just had his leg at the side with cramp and he made a clear attempt to play the ball with his foot,, they'll be far worse ptb's let go this season that's for sure.

| Yeh I thought Leeming had a decent game. Not spectacular.
He’s very good in defence and hits hard.
Dwyer’s passing is ridiculous, but actually his erratic style makes him dangerous.
Would kill for a Buderus, but these two are what we’ve got.
Regarding Tom Briscoe, I do still have a problem with him, despite him having a better game.
His defence is awful, he always gets caught out.
And when he made a good break, there was never a chance of him racing away.
Johnstone, French, Hardaker, Field, Makinson, Grace.....the list goes on.
They would have all raced away to score.
We don’t have a winger that could do that.
And he’s not the rampaging, bulldozing type of winger, so what is he?

You’re being very harsh on Handley there, he is more than capable of racing away to score and has done on many occasion

That’s not really Briscoes strength is it and rarely has been, if he carries strong in exit, gets his nose through the line or dominates the collision he’s doing his job. Interesting what agar said about him and Luke deserving of 6 again calls but being targeted by refs. As an aside I’d argue Handley does have that ability to race away as you mention.
On defence wingers drive me mad with their inability to hold shape, in his pomp Ryan Hall was dreadful constantly coming out the line flapping his arms.

Yeh fair point, Handley would.
I meant neither of the Briscoe’s would.

| I am pleased, but also gutted at last night.
Pleased at seeing some young talent getting game time and also looking hungry and with promise. We still had enough experience out there last night though and not one single player stood up and took hole of it I thought. It was the younger ones showing the desire to take it to the Pies.
Martin had a shocker of a game. Despite the Try, I still am not a fan of Mellor.
Kendall, what a joke of an official.

| Another gutsy effort full of heart & commitment to each other.
Mikolaj was awesome as was Prior , fair play as well ive been one of the biggest critics of both Briscoes but neither can be criticised on last nights efforts.
Walters O'Connor Gannon all stood tall & Alex Sutty imo is proving a very good stand in at centre.
Leeming is improving every week as well imo.
For me once again Kendall made it up as he went along he really is a shocking Ref.
One thing i will say is why did Agar put all that last tackle emphasis on Martin? We saw 2 quality plays from Eastmond in their half that lead to our try.
I understand trying to ease him in but surely we could have used him more.

| Thought you guys were good again. Competed really well was just missing the kicking game on the last.
Surprised you don’t consider moving Leeming into the halves when Dwyer comes on whilst your so short in that position.

| Everyone praising Sutcliffe for his D, and whilst he was good overall, the miss on Farrell was a shocker! He hits well above his weight, maybe he will be a BR in the future, as can't see him making at Leeds in the centres. Too many players ahead of him when all fit.
Martin as it stands is not getting a new deal. If he's not over Covid yet, I'd look to drop him once we get a few bodies back. Let him work on his fitness and decide if he wants to play or not. He is a good goal kicker, but doubt he's that much better than Gale.

| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Have to say the tackle and ruck area of Super League is a complete and utter mess. Really thought last night was awful, we was probably worse than Wigan for it actually. It really needs sorting. This ball steal nonsense is making it awful to watch.
Attack wise we are clearly disjointed which is understandable given the make up of the team but the spirit, desire and guts is there for all to see but we badly need some strike back.
Mikolaj terrific effort again, Prior, couple of errors early but again giving his all. Thought young Walters, Sutcliffe, Gannon (briefly) and Broadbent all excellent. If players and big earners like Martin had a heart a quarter the size of those lads we would be ok.
Have to say I would throw both our hookers in the bin. Terrible. Leeming was very poor for me playing totally for himself. Headless chicken runs from dummy half, off slow play the balls, terrible kicking, passing to wrong man on the last tackle. Dwyer's distribution is beyond a joke. Im fed up of watching it most weeks now. People seem to think a quick aimless scoot makes a decent nine even if their general play is garbage.
Weve the makings of a team when some players return, there is real potential and the team is really giving it a real go and there are some real positives but last night frustrated me i have to say. Scrappy game.'"
think Martin's head is on the plane home to be honest

I was saying the same thing last night about Leeming in the halves and is certainly a better option than Martin in there.
I actually think Donaldson would be ok at hooker especially in defence.
Mik/Prior the standouts for Leeds along with Cam who put in a shift.
I would have Walters and Sutcliffe (Alex) in the second row.
Luke again the better of the Briscoes and Broadbent as a stand in FB did pretty well too.
Smithies and Partington doing the grubby stuff but let`s not forget Wigan have got some pretty good youngsters in their squad and I think Smith is going to be a cracking prospect for them.
What a shame we don`t have a Hardaker in our team!
