I also think his signing is unlikely but I was surprised when GH signed Harris, Ali and Buderus so he might have something up his sleeve! SBW would cetainly add to the squad and would generate loads of publicity. I hope it comes off. What's GH's plan B if we don't get SBW?

| It'd be nice to get SBW. The money made off his name alone would be a bonus to the club as im sure the sponsorships would be sky high. However for the cost i'd sooner we spent the money on transfer fees and signed up some high quality english youngsters. Burgess at bradford being one of them

To not sign anyone at all at a guess.

or saints?!? (There board have stacks of cash and they've lost the likes of Pryce and Eastmond)
As others have said can't imagine GH throwing money at SBW (would be a hell of a signing though *if* his head/heart was in it)

| Even if we could afford him, I'd rather SBW go somewhere else. This is a guy who used to talk about how all his Bulldogs teammates were his 'bros', then proceeded to royally shaft by walking out mid-season. He was also very injury prone in his last season or so in league, and listens to Anthony Mundine for advice, so he's not so bright.
BTW, whilst we may have lost the wages of Burgess, Cross, Senior, Buderus and Lautiti, I'd expect all the contracts for our younger stars have been seriously upgraded.

| SBW has signed for Chiefs on a 12-month contract. Time for us to speculate about someone else.

| 12 months at the Chiefs then back to the NRL by the looks of it.
Who else could we be after then? There is a lack of talent available out there at the moment unless transfer fees are involved

| We are not after anyone, I don't expect any more signings to be made for next season. If we are willing to give te kids the shirts now, then the experience they will gain will put us back in a good position in a couple of years time. Sometimes you have to consider taking a perceived step backwards to be able to go forwards again.
It worked in 2001-3, and look what we finished up with on the back of that.....

I'm personally quite happy with that, if that is the way we actually do go. Which means try and get out of the new Webb deal, try and get out of the new Kylie deal, and stop playing Ablett at centre unless the identified future are out.
Then we can start to work on what we have and get them ready and prepared for the future. If we go with what we currently have then those future kids you talk of are not going to get the opportunities they need now.

Absolutely agree with all of this.

Gary H said he would only sign a player who would make a difference. I think he still would like to make a signing if there is such a player available even if a transfer fee has to be paid. Tuilagi and Hape have been mentioned (hopefully not the latter) but Gary keeps his cards very close to his chest. If Bluey wants Webb is there anybody at the Warriors who we could do a swap deal?

Any idea which way the Smith decision will go and would that influence any new signing?

If he is staying I wouldn't expect any announcement.
