Indeed. If he continues to progress as he is doing batting wise, he could potentially take, say, Collingwood's spot as a batsman, with his spin bowling a very valuable added bonus! Given how well he fields, plus the fact that Swann's had such a good year (and could potentially be the match winner in Australia's 2nd innings), injuries apart this could spell the end for Monty. Mind you, if England do go on to win this match, Monty's efforts in helping secure a draw in Cardiff will prove vital - not a bad way to bow out if that is indeed the case.

With Bresnan & Rashid both in England's one day squad to face the Aussies, Yorks will have to find someone else to take the wickets & score the runs to ensure 1st division survival.
