Leeds Utd have got that reputation anyway. That's why they have the most arrests at games and came top in the "most hated fans" poll.

| I thought every Leeds fan loved the fact that everbody hates us?
Yahoo Answers;
Q: Why does everyone hate Leeds United? I could answer my own question here but am interested what other fans say...
A: For most football fans the origin of the hatred of Leeds United comes from the 1970s when they won the league and were doing well in Europe. They were reknowned for having very aggressive tactics and injuring lots of the best players of rival clubs, in fact it is widely acceptaed that one of their match tactics was to seriously injure the playmaker of each team they faced.
They did other things to antagonise the wider footballing community - changing their kit from Blue and Yellow to all white so thay looked like Real Madrid for example, wearing tassles on their socks etc.
But in the main the biggest reason for the hatred is their fans, they have destroyed the away sections of many grounds, hold the record for the number of pitch invasions by any league club, wrecked Bournemouth in the 1980s and have generally been a bunch of hooligans ever since.
The example of Saturday's 30 minute delay at home to Ipswich, was I am afraid to say, typical of some of the idiots who support this club.
Not all the fans are like this, it just happens to be that Leeds United appear to have a larger proportion of idiots than any other club.
Glad to see them going down, hope they never come back.
Most of, if not all, the answers on there blame the fans.
It's us fans. We're just too damn sexy.

I'm not a Leeds Utd fan. I'm not even a dramaball fan. I'd like to see them do well as I'm a LEEDS (the city) fan.
I love Leeds (the city) have lived here my whole life, I've seen Sydney, Manhattan, Tokyo, LA and I still LOVE Leeds.
You're right though, there does seem to be a collection of idiots who support the club!

Of course everyone will conveniently forget manure fans did this, but I'm sure if it was the other way round and Leeds fans had done it to one of there bars it would make the national news!

Every club has idiots. I didn't write the Q or A by the way. I took it from Yahoo Answers. Wanted to see what people thought of us on there. Isn't there a website dedicated to hating us?

Thats an urban myth that seems to have reached fanatical proportions - to argue that Revies Utd deliberately targeted opposition key players with the intention of injuring them is such a stupid statement as to actually doubt the sanity of the writer.
The only morsel of evidence that you could offer to that opinion is if you took a modern day football supporter - one who has only been watching the game for ten years - and show him an old clip from the Revie years, they'd watch from behind their fingers and wonder why so much physical contact was ignored by the referee - but thats how the game was and each team had its own hardmen, Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith, Dave Mackay etc - it doesn't mean that Leeds Utd were any different to any other first division club.
As for playing with tassles on their socks to antagonise opposition supporters - I give in

| Just search on a certain site for the highlights of Leeds Vs Southampton back in the 70s (the 7-0 win) and then try and say that Leeds just won games by kicking people off the pitch. They were on of the best footballing sides going, played back in the day when you were allowed to make contact with your opponents and when balls weren't super light.
My dad followed Leeds through those days and always points out that every side was physical, Roy 'Chopper' Harris anyone? And that Leeds were one of the better sides to watch in terms of footballing ability.

I've watched that video so many times. Sheer masterclass. Same with Grays goal against Burnely(?) Lets see Ronaldo score a goal as good as that!

| They say teams grow to represent their managers, like people get to look like their pets.
Bearing in mind the way Revie shat on England from a great height and the way his players treated his replacements that may not be far off the mark.
Cloughie had Leeds bob on, a team good enough that it could have won anything it wanted without kicking people and intimidating referees (or attempting to bribe them, allegedly).

They always said though if Revie hadn't have been so scared of losing and have all his lucky charms and things he ritually did before a game and let the team off the leash they would have won more or less every trophy from the mid 60's to the mid 70's.
Usually they would chase the 1 goal and then defend for it instead of chasing for more goals. Quite a few of the Leeds players from that era have all said the same!
