I doubt anyone in SL gets in that Saints spine ahead of Welsby/Lomax/Roby etc.

Abd for me that should be the last time Tetevano starts ahead of Smith at 13, its always been a fallacy that he can play that 3rd prop role against a big pack, it brought back nightmares of Agar past. C Smith can be our point of difference against it.

We've obviously had a big turnover of players this off season but next is the most significant with both halves and Tetevano probably moving on.'"

Blumin heck we are already writing off this season and looking to what we might be able to bring in for next year.
Is this our 8th, 9th or 10th year we are in rebuilding mode?
We had an opportunity to offload Austin but we extended his contract I believe.
We got rid of 2 coaches Sinfield and Agar who looked after their mates only to get another one who looks to be doing the same.
Like others have said a win in our next game and the Wire loss will be forgotten.
A loss in our next 3 might send the alarm bells ringing again.
Roll on August!

Whilst it is too early to be looking to next season, it doesn't take much to realise we don't have the squad to be bringing home much silverware this year.

Anyone that thinks the Leeds badge is a guarantee of success needs to realise that it is not 2012 anymore. There is nothing wrong with realising there are far better teams than ours this year.

I don't think anyone on here has said we have a better team than Sts? We look better on paper than last year, but the spine is a weakness. My main hope for this year is entertainment and showing we can compete against the best - which really means Sts.

Almost all coaches bring in players they have had previous experience with - for good reason. They value their ability and their attitude. I don’t think that's bringing in their mates, although when times are tough it's tempting to see it that way. This squad - especially with the return of key men in both backs and forwards - is good enough to win the majority of games. However this year, unlike last year, we are going to have some very highly paid players (Fusitua, Austin, Tetevano, Sezer etc) off contract. This will provide the funds for a Wire style recruitment blitz in key positions if required. On the basis of the last game, you'd have to say it is. Maybe if we beat Hull by 50 we'll all decide Tetevano needs a pay rise and another three years. Maybe.

With Olpherts and some of the forwards signed we probably won't need to bother trying to replace either Fusitu'a or Tetevano directly. We definitely need real class in one of the halfback positions and a high quality fullback wouldn't hurt either.

So we are trying to blame Myler who has been about our best player the last two seasons when we have a powder puff pack , two wingers playing at centre and a scrum half who has played about 3 or 4 good games for us

I agree re Myler who I thought along with Gannon was our best player last year.
Is it a season too far or was he having an off game?
For me the writing was on the wall during the pre season games that we, myself included thought it might just be down to Smith tinkering with a few ideas.
Players such as Cam Smith thoroughly deserved the 13 spot and Walters deserved a place on the bench.
Hopefully all will be rectified for our next game.

Reaching a final would be a success this year. Bit depressing to see how much others have improved though…(including Saints!)
