| Quote exiledrhino="exiledrhino"Dwyer is what he is, an impact Hooker, who in a good side would get 20-25 minutes off the bench. Great eye for a break, and some pace to back it up.
Not the game controlling, skilled distributor we should have starting though. I've said it before - bring back McShane!'"
Totally agree with all of that except I don't think McShane's the answer.

| Dwyer plays a lot like Burrow at hooker. Potentially game changing if used effectively (hence deserving of an extension IMO) but not what we need at hooker. Plus, Brad's not as good as Rob.
To be fair to 'Dog', his form was a lot better earlier in the season, but he seems to be struggling now - trying to force things a bit too much. You get that in teams under pressure - it's also affecting other players like Newman and Hurrell.
Do Leeds use a sports psychologist?

I think Burrow was much worse at 9. He played in a far better team but he would have been a nightmare to run off. His passing was worse, he more often than not ran his runners out. Though, overall, Burrow had a better career (in the halves) and had more of the ‘X’ factor and is rightly regarded as a Leeds legend.

| Got to be honest I'm fed up of the hooking issues we have constantly. It's about time we got a hooker long term who can do the job.
I'm maybe too harsh on Dwyer but I honestly think hes one of the worst players I've ever seen. Lunt isn't the answer either.
It's gone on for nearly 10 years now and it's about time we got a proper 9 at the club who stays and performs.
Corey needs to work on his collision and physicality and he could be the answer. It needs bloody sorting, it's a crucial position and is along with a 7, an absolute priority for the club to rectify.

Completely agree. It’s one of, if not the most influential positions these days, and yet we’ve seemed to shove square pegs into round holes or just use stop gaps.
I’m a fan of Dwyer but only if used correctly, in the same way that Burrow, if he had to be played there, should have been. 10-15 minute spells in each half If needed to step up the speed/intensity while the main 9 has a rest.

| I agree, Dwyer off the bench to make an impact and add a spark is fine. 10 mins before HT and last 20 mins would be ideal to take advantage of tired legs.

Is this likely to happen? I've not seen much of him, but from the board it seems like he's a talented player.
Just hope it's not another Liam Hood situation!

Liam Hood, who actually did quite decent holding his own after us? Corey is completely different to Hood, both in skills and physically.
The problem with Dwyer is not realising when it is a problem. It always seemed stupid against Hull KR to start him with Lunt on the bench. The lead KR got was down to him, they targetted him and ran him ragged. He was not an issue in attack, but that isn't the only part of the game. Once he was off, the threat of Hull KR diminished. Against Hull, we left him out there when he was near dead getting up, 20 minutes before the end of the game, and again Hull targetted him defensively, and nine missed tackles is absolute pathetic stats, and purely as a result of him staying out there. He should have been off, and that is down to the coach not acting on that.

What's youre view of Johnsons skillset? Is he likely to make the step up in your opinion?
Any other of the academy you particularly think will make the grade?

I have said on here since he was 15 Johnson would make the grade and be a star. He has always had the x factor. That said, I do think he hasn't progressed as quickly as he should have this year, but I am convinced that is down to the standard of rugby he has mainly played at (under 19's, and he is above that level). He needs to be playing at a higher level. I was at the Yorkshire v Lancashire academy game a few weeks back, the decider. He and Walters for Lancashire were head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. He actually got moved in that game to stand off, and looked the real deal. What I do know is that playing second fiddle to Dwyer will not enhance his progression. It really needs to be a big star hooker, with Corey as his deputy.
Of the others, I already said previously about Broadbent, and for me the top one of the lot is Walters. Anybody who doesn't develop Walters into a top class player shouldn't be involved in player development. He has everything.
