I seem to remember that before Morley signed for Wire Salford fans were hopeful he'd see out his career with them. Similarly, I suspect that in reality the Ellis-Cas thing will only happen if there are no offers from bigger clubs.

Or bigger offers from any other club. No way could Cas compete for him at present despite his stated desire to finish his career here. However at the end of next season two of our most costly (yet least valuble) players will be out of contract and thereafter he would be very affordable.

are you saying that as we have been so successful that we couldn't have signed players that would have made us even stronger?

I guess what I meant was that with the salary cap the upshot would have been that had Morley
come in, one or two players would have had to leave. now we may have still been successful, but one of our strengths has been a deep squad

| I read the same article in yesterday's Yorkshire Post. He says he has no ties to any club over here when he comes back. He as much as dismissed the Cas rumours by saying "well, I wasn't good enough for them as a junior...."
As he'll be 33/34 when his deal is up and will be heading to the highest bidder I suspect he'll be a Wolfe and good luck to him, and them.

Don't forget Leeds also missed out on getting Iestyn Harris back.
This was a mistake as Iestyn led the Bulls to the 2005 title while Leeds lost two finals.

And look at the Bulls now. We had the emergence of Burrow and Mags and they have continued bringing success to the team. Im glad Harris never came back

I would imagine that GH actually thinks that the fact that Iestyn never returned to us and went to the Bulls instead was actually a financial masterstroke
I would have thought that you would have been better asking the Bulls fans what they thought regarding their club since his much trumpeted signing and under the Rhinos noses, as I'm sure you'll get a clearer answer there Sally

I'm not sure if this is comedy genius or for real.

Two more than Warrington managed to reach this year. Presumably Tony Smith made bigger mistakes?

Harris would have been a squad player in that team,if he had returned I dont thid have been here long. The whole episode was one upmanship between two bloke we all know well.
Everything has been said about 2005 .If we hadnt had 2007-2008-2009-2011 we would have been lamenting everything that contributed to Bradford winning the GF that year, but we are not greedy or bitter ,we are better than that

| I'll pretend Sally was being serious.
Iestyn was peripheral to the Bulls success in 2005. Peacock and Pryce weren't. Signing Iestyn cost the Bulls both of the aforementioned players. Both went on to play in many more major finals for their new clubs. Iestyn and the Bulls didn't contest another after 2005.
Meanwhile, since "losing out" on Iestyn's signature part way through 2004 the young, home grown Leeds halves have played in 8 major finals and won 5 championships.
Then, of course, we come to the financial ramifications for the Bulls from the eventual settlement of the legal claims.
Yes, it was a huge mistake "missing out" on iestyn.
