| Its the booze IMO. As has been stated on here in previous forums people get tanked up before big finals and then their mouths run away with themselves. Some of the neutral fans do my head in. I sat next to some Hull fans who just watched the game and clapped both teams. How it should be. Then there were some muppets a few rows back just chanting 'Leeds scum' all the time. A Leeds fan had a word then a steward got involved. Pathetic.
Banning booze in the ground would not help. I saw a large number of fans drunk at Watford Gap services at 10 AM.

There were a few guys necking beers in the queue for the coaches at 7.00 in the morning. Thankfully they weren't allowed to drink on the coaches otherwise they'd be in a right state.
I enjoy a few beers on a matchday but I don't see any need to get so smashed?

What about drunks not being allowed entry into the stadium?
After all Airlines have the power to refuse drunken passengers onto a plane so why not sports grounds (it may even say something about it in the ground regulations on the tickets?)
If you end up being seated anywhere near these sorts of morans it just ruins your enjoyment of the game

Yep i'd go along with this.
Unfortunately we won't get these stadiums to stop selling beer because it rakes in so much £££ for them especially when they are way over-priced so an admission policy is the only way imo.

They can do that already - but don't.
Its a simple formula - empty the pockets of your punters with massively over-priced and often poor quality alcohol (how many pubs do you know that shut down for two weeks in between sessions and still hold a pretence of knowing how to keep beer), and let the stewards deal (sometimes) with the handful who abuse the privilege.
You take the money every time and sod the inconvenience to anyone else, after all, the stadium still sold out didn't it ?

| Here is what I have posted on the Warrington forum. Please note I have not used the word fan to describe anyone who was part of the trouble.
This incident was in the next bock to us along the same row. There were two guys inparticular wearing light blue and white striped shirts who had been goading people around them most of the game. Clearly under the influence of beer. A number of times people ad asked them to calm down and just enjoy the day. Their behaviour had been reported to the stewards a number of times too. Sadly when it all kicked off big time it was because a man in a Warrington away shirt squared up to one of the men and pushed him down stairs causing others to react with fists.
True fans around this incident did the right thing IMO and let them get on with it but just roundly booed them till the stewards escourted everyone involved out of the ground.
Not nice to see and very upsetting for the children who were near to the incident and had to witness it, like my daughter who was in tears for 5 minutes. She thought I was telling her off when I told her not to watch the fight but watch the game instead. Thanks for that you idiots.
Put a bit of a tar on a fantastic day. Someone has posted a video of the end of the incident on a popular video viewing sight.

| Asked a few Leeds fans what happened because I was at the opposite end so couldn't really see who was fighting. They told me it wasn't the Rhinos fans it was actually Leeds Utd fans, instead of going to Watford for the football they decided to go down to Wembley buy tickets off touts and got in the Warrington end. If you look at the pictures theres not actually that many wearing Rhinos shirts. I don't know how it started or who was involved but I don't think either sides are innocent here, both were as bad as each other.
Let's hope it's stopped before it turns into football crowds.
On a personal note though I did find some Warrington fans very aggressive on my way back to the coach. Wanting fights was glad to get back to my coach away from them.

You can't describe any of them as "fans" and this "it was LUFC" fans not Rhinos ones smacks of the Hull lot blaming City fans.
They are NOT FANS they are sh#8houses of the highest quality.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "Spot on.
But for some reason it's always the other sides fault.
Then it's segregation. Strange I was at Bradford in 1960 in a crowd of 87,000 for Wigan v Wakefield with no segregation and there was no trouble.
Real RL supporters need to point out the troublemakers, even if they are friends.'"
Agreed - we once had a bog brush thrown at us by some travelling supporters at Headingley - these trouble makers need banning by the RFL.

| a shame really, I went to Cardiff with my Wigan shirt on about 10 years ago, with a Leeds scarf and a Bradford hat. Awesome reception from fans but the last 5 or 6 years seems to be a lot more trouble at games. Our issue at our club is the ale, mix that with spotty faced chavs and its a cocktail of bother.

| These aren't real rugby league fans and never will be. I've been to a few magic weekends as a Wigan supporter and sit in the Saints end with my Saints supporting girlfriend. Nothing ever kicks off and there's always good banter beteween the supporters. The worst you get is "shut up you muppet" when I invarably start singing along with the Wigan fans etc.
The problem with the Challenge cup is the fact that you get a lot of people attending who don't watch rugby league (or even worse, are used to football crowds) and don't understand that this sort of thing is not what real rugby fans expect.

The above idiot should be banned firstly from this site and if any information is known about him given to aouthorities e mail etc.
Their does seem to be some footage of what happened in 109 and lets hope it's used and they are caught.
Us the fans of this great game need to make sure this scum don't ruin our reputation. I have been in the west stand with Leeds fans on a couple of occasions and had some really good natured banter.
I would like to think that the trouble in the east end of the ground on saturday were neither Warrington or Leeds fans just morons that wore and shamed the shirt on the day.

| Quote: bulldog13 "I've said this before but until the authorities ban sale of alcohol during the games this will continue to happen and, god forbid, scenes only previously seen with soccer.
RL C.Cup final - speccies typically leave 7am and start on the beer; Grand Final even worse - speccies get to drink all day and by 6pm ko are well and truly bladdered!
Next - continue to be served and recipe for aggression.....
I have seen this at recent GF games with Saints and Leeds and also at Wembley with Saints and Hull fans (yes - I am Saints fan). I'm not picking on any named team either, all clubs have their idiots especially when beer is freely available - Saints more than many!
Sad day when I say that alcohol shouldn't be sold at matches but I really fear for the day when it all kicks off and, for once, we as RL sport finally appears on the BBC News and front pages in the press for all the wrong reasons.'"
Why should those of us who can have a bevvy or two and behave ourselves be punished for this minority though?!
