Fair enough is that, it didnt seem biased to me
the ref missed a lot for both teams tonight and as i was behind the sticks i couldnt see side on and it looked like Leeds got away with a couple of forwards ? please be honest answering that one !!
oh and BTW Hodgson didnt touch the ball from where we were stood - we only wanted a drop out icon_smile.gif

oh and BTW Hodgson didnt touch the ball from where we were stood - we only wanted a drop out the game had it's usual flat balls and a few forward. Same as you get week in week out. The pass/off load to Lunt for his try was a shocker. Leeds should have got a tackle in on him before he scored though.

From my position in the South Stand Smith got as close as he could to the ball to guide it out which caused him to touch it with his leg. The next contact the ball had with anything was the touch in goal line. It should IMO have been a drop out which meant all the officials got it wrong (I'll happily be corrected when I see a replay but if I'm right it's shocking that I saw that from 50 m away and the officials all got it wrong).

On the knock on for the next try it's a tough one. Technically I think the ball went backwards from his hand although he will have certainly have propelled the ball in a direction further forward than it was going to be. It wasn't one that obviously went through his hands. I rather see these given as knock ons but to be fair to Thaler he was consistent - Senior did the same thing in a similar position in the 1st half.

Some of the forward passes in the 2nd half down our left hand side were embarrassing - one to hall on about the half way line must have gone at a 30 degree angle. I though I counted 3 including one in the build up to the final try.

One last point - why when Ali passed the ball after Thaler had called held was it a scrum and not a penalty? Is it some kind of accidental law as he clearly hadn't heard? The same as accidental offside would be a scrum?

Was it my eye sight failing me again or did McShane kick a 40 20 and the scrum was given to Huddersfield? Looked pretty close to me.

Again, we've played poorly and found a way to come away with the 2 points.

he was well putside the 40 when he kicked it.
can't comment on the hodgeson try as it was at the far end, but smith was appalling all night. why didn't he kick it into the stand? lets hope a good pre season will bring back his pre union form.
clarkson gets better and better, he is going to be some player.
i thought it was a play off type game, good defence and a tough game. overall i thought we edged it and has been alluded to the likes of kylie, burgess and ali will be better for the run out

and i don't think we were poor, that takes a lot of credit away from the giants.individuals were poor but as a whole it was a decent display

Standing dead level with Mcshane for 40/20 kick and he was just outside our 40 one call Thaler did get right.

don't seem that biased to me,in fact it seems pretty spot on,griff's yellow card did seem harsh and wouldn't have been yellow if it was the other way round, leeds' first try was very lucky as clarkson was supposed to be the dummy, but took the chance well, referee missed a few things which is about right, and leeds got lucky in the end when graeme "safehands" horne dropped the ball right where leeds wanted it.
all in all i thought we were slightly the better team, especially in the 2nd half but our mistakes and 2 failed conversions lost us the game.

The defense continues to be below the level it should be. The defense for Patrick try was a disgrace. Our line speed continues to lack intensity at times and we give the opposition playmakers far too much room.

Anyone else think that BJB would be a better option at FB to Smith at the moment? Smith looks slow, and unfit, and just plain lazy at times. I didn't have that much of a problem with the actual miss on Lunt in the first half, but it was how slow Smith was to get accross to him in the first place. Hopefully by next season he will have regained his previous form for Leeds and do well, but at the moment he's a liability.

One final negative point. Why do we wait until we're on the brink of defeat before we attacking with any urgency. The McGuire try for example was one of the few times we actually moved the ball along the line with pace and with runners making themselves available. We need to do that more consistantly.

On a posative note. Buderus was outstanding, and JJB was too in the second half and ran him very close for MotM. McShane was much improved when he came on, especially in defence.

Its funny because wasn't it Nathan Brown who was complaining about a similar incident earlier in the season. icon_lol.gif

I'm sure he wasn't & had Burrow been fit or McShane performed better then I don't think he would have played. Despite playing on one leg & making few if any runs from dummy half, his speed & accuracy of pass from the ruck & his organisational skills in defence showed his value to the team.
For G1's benefit I hope that McShane was watching & learning from that.

another below par performance last night but the one thing that stood out for me was Kirke backing of a tackle on Crabtree has he brought it in at the carnegie end and his shirt grabbing patsy at griffin. Not blaming one player but it did make me cringe, always supported kirke but how he got in before the inform Ambler is anyones guess. The last 8 minutes play tbf was worth the entry money if we could only put some of that in earlier.
