Quote: G1 "Yup. Won't see me defending him after that performance. Shocking, but he wasn't alone.'"

Think he was the worst by some distance though G - definitely at fault for the first three tries.

Ablett's complete lack of faith in him shows he shouldn't be in the team IMO - he had a chance to give him the ball in a tryscoring position late in the second half, but opted to keep hold of the ball and take the tackle.

I'd need to see it again to be sure, but it also looked like that the break for Brough's try came when Ablett was trying to cover two attackers, almost like he didn't trust Vickery to deal with his man icon_sad.gif

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection." 23/08/2014:

Quote: nantwichexile "Geez I love these individuals who purport to speak on my behalf.

If I remember correctly BJB was going through a spell of not playing so well and was far from convincing. All I advocated (and ever advocate) is that if ANY player suffers a prolonged drop in convincing displays - whatever that past reputation - the acadamey player playing well in the same position should surely be given an opportunity. If not and persistence is made with the repeatedly failing first teamer, is there any point in having such a back up of playing staff?'"

I haven't 'spoke' on your behalf, I merely remember what you wrote in the past. It's not my fault you write garbage and when people pick you up on it and show you up on your (lack of) rugby knowledge you try to backtrack and laugh it off as a 'joke'.

I think Ablett needs to take some responsibility in not passing. No good saying no faith, Vickery was clear unmarked on two occasions in 2nd half and Ablett chose to keep hold of the ball. He did the same thing in the WCC game. I am far from defending Vickery as My opinion is like the majority on here, but it would be interesting what the view would be had he got a couple of tries in those matches which could have happened.

I always give guys chances and im still willing to give Vickery some time, but I said in preseason on here that he didnt look like a First Grade quality player, even though he scored 4 tries. He looked slow and laboured to me and I saw a few weaknesses in his defensive reads. I was told to look at Youtube at his 4 minute highlights package from the past 5 years of reserve grade.

People have their criticisms of BJB, and sometimes rightly so, but from what I have seen, he is quicker, safer and a lot more confident with ball in hand than Vickery. It really gets me when wingers get the bal wide and decide to run back in field sideways before getting tackled. Making 3 metres running straight is better than running 15 metres sideways and making no ground.

I don't want to make Vikery a scapegoat for last night, the whole team (with the exception of Moore) were woeful, but he's not looking like a Super League standard winger IMO.

It could be that he's taking his time to settle in but from what I've seen so far it doesn't look promising.

It's not even a question whether BJB is better in all aspects. It's a question whether Chisholm or Watson are, but the answer is probably the same. Bonus question is where on a list of John Basnett, Andy Smith, Richard Pratt and Tom Bush he would lie? (May have cleared my mind of some other wingers in Blue and Amber, feel free to think of any more unsuitable than Vickery if you can)

I know it's Wigan next, but for the luv of gods, let's try Jimmy Watson at FB and get Watkins back in the threequarters (outside Ablett IF it is considered Jamel Chisholm is not capable of skinning Pat Richards on the outside)

You are Brian McDermott and I claim my twenty quid. Despite your (possible) claims to be the all knowing oracle of RL you got it badly wrong in selections and tactics icon_biggrin.gif

I'm sure it's been said many many times before, but let's all be thankful you are not the coach of Leeds Rhinos.

I think you have covered all of them there. I have been watching Leeds since the 1960's and I don't recall any worse winger than Andy Smith. icon_biggrin.gifOH:

Quote: nantwichexile "you select Vickery again? Cannot see either Watson or Chisholm being any more of a weak link than said Aussie who will be targeted very very acutely next match.
Yes I would select him, because he is the best option available to us at the moment - not ideal I know but that's the way it is with Zak and BJB unavailable. I agree it's not gone well so far and he had a shocker last night, but I'm sure he'll be worked hard in training this week. After coach McDermott's recent quotes about giving him and Achurch time, I'm sure the trigger won't be pulled on him just yet.

I certainly don't think dropping Watson straight in at the deep end against Wigan is the right way to go - you don't think he would be targeted 'very very acutely'? He needs bringing along slowly, as he is at the moment - plenty of game time at Hunslet, then the natural step up after that would be to make his Leeds debut against lesser opposition - perhaps against a Championship team in the Cup?

What you looking at?....Butt Head!!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_68072.jpg

Why should we persist with a player who has proven he is out of his depth?

He will be targeted heavily in the next few games for sure,it will not have gone unoticed.he has had his chance, not taken it and somebody else should be given a go.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg

Maybe because hes less out of his depth than the other options
