Delph IMO is irreplacable (sp) at League 1 level. Leeds have sold off the only real class attacking player. Yes we've got a decent fee but what good is that when it probably won't go back into the team.

I'm not that confident about our promotion chances now.

Finding the right players is tough though, especially at this stage when the bulk of the top talent has been snapped up.

There's still quality within this league that would be comfortable at championship level i.e Taylor,eardley (oldham),lambert(bristol rovers)whitbread(milwall).
Spending reasonable money now the delph deal has been done would save money long term if/when we get promoted.
If we get promoted with this squad we will need to sign at least 5/6 more players but if we sign a few now and get rid of the likes of kandol,michalik,prutton and casper the rebuilding won't be as big a task plus the fact if we sign these players as a league one club the cost won't be as much as it would if we get promoted!

We'll take Kandol, infact we'll take any striker anywhere in world football atm!

I'm gutted that Delph has gone, £8m is too good to turn down i know but Bates wont spend much if any on new players. I think keeping hold of Beckford was more important than keeping Delph, obviously Delph is a more talented player but IMO Beckford is more important to our push for promotion this season. If Beckford stays i think we'll go up but the bookies now have Beckford at 2/1 to join West Brom. Surely if Bates is saying there's money available to spend then the priority has got to be Beckford's contract or is Bates just cashing in before he finally snuffs it, which cant come soon enough.

Yes agreed, imo Delph should have gone a month or so back, which would give us more time to recruit. Interesting about beckford though, if we lose him it's curtains for promotion i think.
