You’re obviously welcome to disagree.'"
I suspect what his real issue is his frustration that whatever JJB says should be irrelevant. Somehow he’s now the head coach of Leeds Rhinos. This would be unimaginable even 4 years ago.
Nothing personal against him. He shouldn’t be in this position.

Thing is, can they get the right coach in two weeks? They desperately need to. As you say it's time for GH to show some real leadership and vision or admit his time has passed. We have six first teamers out of contract at the end of the season- Briscoe, Austin, Dywer, Thompson, Mellor and Martin. All need to go. In addition we also have three young ones in Broadbent, Muzz and O'Connor. Some ruthless decisions may need to be taken there although it would be good to see them get a chance this year given that the bar is currently set so low an ant would struggle to limbo under it. Things can be turned around quicker than some may think, but it won't be cheap, and long standing friendships and loyalties need to put aside in order to do it. Does GH have the belly for it nowadays? Think we'll find out soon enough.

| Can anyone please tell me why we went back to Briscoe in the centre?

| While there are some glaring problems (today's prop and centres are bottom of the league stuff even on paper and we have frighteningly little depth in some areas) the team isn't quite as bad as it looks in terms of ability. Letting in 40 at home is as much about effort and teamwork as anything else. I've seen worse teams on paper do better if they put the effort in for 80 minutes. Its a cliche but true - get your defence sorted and make yourself hard to beat first, then the attacking play will follow.
The season this feels most like is 1983-84. Team fell to bits under Dewhurst and got no better under David Ward and Alan Smith as caretakers. We got in Maurice Bamford. Took him a little while to get going (I think we nearly lost to Blackpool in the John Player in his first game) before he turned us into a competitive unit. The team was unrecognizably better within weeks.
I don't think we'll see such a turnaround under any coach during the season, but the key was bringing in a real outsider as coach for the first time in a decade. Get it right and we'll be looking forward to next year. Get it wrong and we'll be back here next year with the same story. Over to you GH.....

| Marty - re Briscoe I'd guess part of the problem would be that he's highly likely to be good mates with JJB. That's why we need an outsider, who would look at the options available and pick the best players and combinations regardless of who has been picked previously, or how long anyone has been at the club.

I think we’ve also got to hope Holroyd, Newman, Fusitua and myler returning might give the team a lift.
I don’t think the team is as bad as its playing either. We’ve clearly got major issues though.

| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Sorry Christopher but JJB's press conference is a total mess. Hes all over the place, goes off on tangents, changes subjects, keeps talking about what the golden generation did, rusty shopping trolleys in the bottom of canal, God.
Weve got to ramp up the pressure on the players get them training with such intensity they can cope on game day and then 2 minutes later go right back to basics and teach them like 9 year olds.
Its one of the most ridiculous press conferences ive ever heard
He even admits hes rambling cos hes emotional.
Lets be serious here. Saints next week and then a week off. We need a new coach the day after Saints game to give him 2 weeks with the players.
Over to you GH. Sort this mess out.'"
While in general I agree there were a few points that I liked over the usual agar presser. He mentioned some of these players need holding to account for poor performance. The proof is in the pudding I suppose we will see with selection against saints next week

That’s what I think, it’s a sympathy vote. He’s not been a good enough winger for a supposed elite SL team for around 5 years. If we’re honest, he’s never been knocking on the door of an international call up since his earlier Hull day. What do we do? Move him Into the centres. We’re a joke of a club these days

He's certainly improved week on week but he hasn't got Myler's ability to execute a killer pass. Don't think Sezer and Austin would look quite so hopeless with Myler at fullback.

| We're badly missing a leader. Myler is perhaps one of our only hopes left in this department...
I hate to say it, but for all Gale's failings, he did give us leadership that is so obviously lacking at present. I have nothing against Handley but having him anywhere near the captaincy (from the wing) sums up how badly off we are in this department.
Having followed Leeds for a long time, it seems like we're back in the post-Murray years of trying to assemble a quick fix top-team by bringing in short-term signings (Ben Walker, Adrian Vowles etc etc). It didn't work back then - it has never worked for teams like Warrington in the last 20 years - and it probably won't fix things for us now.
What a shame that players like Stevie Ward have been forced out of the game, and that someone like Liam Sutcliffe has utterly squandered the potential he had back in 2015... To think he managed to force Sinfield out of the team, and in the same year Briscoe scored 5 tries at Wembley. Talk about living on past glories.
I'm confident things will turn around, but someone needs to come in and make some tough decisions.

Spot on once the staring props come
Off we have a choice or Thompson or Donaldson to rotate. The pack is garbage
