| We just about deserved to win although I still think we are poorly coached. Before the the smith fan club on here start squealing I am not suggesting he should be sacked. Some passages of play were dreadful ,players passing to players who were stood without running on to the ball. On the plus side thought big Mik put in a good shift, Handleys first try was an absolute gem, worth the admission money alone. Hopefully last night’s performance was a blip. Obviously we will have to perform better at rovers, they as per Salford run an aggressive defence ,quick out the line so it’s up to smith to counter that threat. Bet Hull FC wished they had Sneyd back, thought he had an outstanding game.

| Surprised by the amount of negativity after a decent first win for the season.
I think massive credit is due to Salford, and Rowley is showing he’s one of the best coaches in the league. Their tactic was to stop our strike players, halves and 3/4s by being aggressive in line speed and slowing down the PTB. That’s the reason for all the pens, as they consistently messed about in the ruck. There were almost no quick PTBs for Ackers and Croft to run off the back of.
Can’t judge the signings after one competitive game, but thought killer showers glimpses of why he’s so hard to tackle.
Lisone and Hanley were class.
For me, I’d drop Donno and actually start goudamond at prop, I thought he was a lot more steady and looks more of a FR than Donno ever will.
Overall clunky, but it’s week one, and we were no worse than HKR last night who were against shocking opposition. Looking forward to next week!

| Just on the Sky coverage the multiple screenshots offer absolutely nothing to the viewer, you just cant see whats going on and it seems out of sync with what the video refs looking at.

| Smith needs to come up with some better tactics against teams slowing the game down, it was a major weakness last year and we struggled again. Salford are well coached and although the new set restart rule has reduced opportunities at slowing down, new ones are created by well timed head injuries which miraculously don't require a HIA. The pantomime with Sneyd placing the ball 6 or 7 times for a kick in front of the sticks waiting for the ref to stop the clock was embarrassing, I don't blame Sneyd they had a man in the bin, made the ref look a fool.
Definitely need a different prop to Donaldson until Holroyd is back.

Got to say, I haven’t felt a good atmosphere since the old South Stand was demolished. It can be even worse depending where you are stood/sat. It’s our 1st year as season ticket holders on the Eastern Terrace, and last night wasn’t a great introduction. Is it just me or is Headingley turning into a crèche ? We had kids around us who never got off the floor, some who never actually faced the pitch, while the women held a mothers meeting and the blokes just looked disinterested. The game was disjointed and flat, but to me too many people just go to the rugby to meet up and have a chat and a beer. The game really does seem incidental to a lot of them. By contrast I thought the Salford fans were great, and I could still hear them as we walked up towards Headingley Lane afterwards. I thought the crowd mirrored our display, tepid.

Must admit I thought it quite bizarre, the clip of players walking back to the half way line is if no interest to me. Thought Tompkins and Danny were excellent as pundits. Tompkins especially, funny old world isn’t it.

Agree that HKR appeared to be round about where we were at. But they did try to play a high tempo game which will perhaps lead to a better quality match next week.

Hull KRs issue is their halfback pairing and lack of kicking game

Agree watched it back this morning and the video ref multiscreen is a gimmick. Makes you dizzy looking at it!
It left me feeling I needed a bigger TV
