Is Tinder the one people use generally to meet others nearby for 'casual fun'?
When I went to the Wigan game last season on the supporters' bus there were a group of about 4 teenage lads (about 15-16) that had somehow used whatever app it is to arrange meeting some young, female Wigan fans at the game. I'm not sure exactly what they did (Did they all watch the game sat together, or drink fizzy pop and eat monster munch outside..?) They seemed to be using the game as a bit of a ruse to meet and spend time with random girls, anyway.
Unless that is another app..? Clearly I have no idea what actually goes on at the rugby - I am too naive!

| I am now informed by the club that there are no plans to make free wi-fi available even on a partial basis.
It's all or nothing. so for the time being it will be nothing.
It would still be interesting to have some info on the costs though.
It is more needed on the cricket side where people may be there for up to 8/9 hours a day.
The internet is far less intrusive than people talking on their phones.
Although filling in the gaps when you only hear half the conversation can be very diverting.
It can also be extremely annoying.

I'd presume some form of Monster Munch was adopted.

Good idea. We need to set up a cake rota.

| It costs more than some people may think to implement a Wireless Solution to cover an area that size. Then there's the Bandwidth Costs and Legal concerns. The ROI would be Zero.

| The size of the area to cover is not the issue, the issue is the density of clients connecting in small space. The physical number of wireless access points to cover the rugby ground actually wouldn't be that high but the issue is its ok to cover all of the south stand with 2 access points (which you probably could) but however many k devices would swamp the access points and make the speed too slow to be useful.
In terms of legal requirements, as long as you are filtering and logging content viewed (not hard or particularly expensive to do) then that problem is solved.
Final problem is internet speeds and the cost of providing a connection into the ground with enough speed to service the demand.
All very doable, other sports stadia do but as has been mentioned, not much return for the club for the investment and ongoing running costs.

| I've found that the 3G signal in the South Stand seems to be a lot more stable this year than it has in the past.

| I've asked my question, the club has responded so I now know the position.
Issue over.
Dealt with courteously & efficiently, just how a fan's forum should operate.
Obviously not an internet one.
As far as I'm concerned topic closed.

What? No ridiculously over the top hissy fit over a relatively minor issue? No proclamations about the imminent death of Leeds RLFC and Rugby League as a whole? Are you new here?
Pfft. If there's no drama to watch I'll go back to my cake.

Don't be over-dramatic.....we all know the death of Leeds RLFC and RL will be because they had the man-beast JJB pose in some of the new training gear.

Don't be daft. It's because we didn't sign Richie Myler and McNamara didn't pick Danny Brough. No cake for you

Same here, much better than previously. In the past is struggle to get a signal especially at half time but it's worked fine for me this season.
