Soon we will be dancing the Fandango

| Quote: The Lucky Black Cat "Widdops parents and siblings live in Australia. Widdop has a young baby and is very happy at the Storm playing and learning off 3 of the best players in the world playing in the best comp in the world. Widdop has been living in Melbourne for many years. Widdop also has a contract til 2013 with option for 2014. With more money likely coming in to the NRL and an even higher salary cap I doubt Widdop would leave for Leeds or any SL club as the money he will earn in the NRL will be so much higher. And with his close family out there and everything its not as if he is just over there to play like the other English players'"
Also it was claimed in the YEP that we are not exactly flush with money

| You're right - neither Reed or Widdop will be in SL any time soon. Reed BTW will probably move to the backrow before too long as he sometimes gets burned for speed.
As for Williams, unless its part of a plan to have him move to fullback (with no evidence that he can actually play there, despite what anyone says) or BJB to fullback, its the sort of nonsense signing that would have excited me when I was 15 but now leaves me completely cold.
IMO the focus before anything else has to be on the pack. A couple of aggressive hard-running and hard-tackling forwards (one prop, one backrower) are exactly what this team needs. We have far too many average forwards IMO, and whilst happy with any 2 of our current batch of second rowers or props in the 17, all our 'depth' does is add more of the same.
Sadly I suspect that there aren't many decent available within our price range either within SL or from the NRL. If we fall apart this year, it's probably way too late for a major overhaul for 2013 anyway.

| I'd love to sign Moi Moi, he'd add grit to our forwards, but we need to look for youth. Bring Amor back, and sign Walmshaw from Batley.

What's this Walmshaw like ?
Agree about Amor....Kirke moving in the opposite direction.

If rumors are to be believed apparently he was a done deal several years ago. Leeds pulled out last minute, so if it's true i doubt he'd be tempted again.

Which they seldom are, in my experience.
If we want to add some dynamism to the pack, I'd like to see it done with some youth and preferably home-grown. I'm not really sure where that would come from at this moment in time. Amor looks a decent player, but would hardly revolutionise our go-forward in the pack if we're being honest. We need someone who plays like Gareth Hock, without actually being Gareth Hock. And there really aren't many of them around.
If we can get a pack that wins the collision and generates quick ball in the right parts of the field, we still have the strike power behind the pack to hurt teams, with some good young players in the side and the likes of Ward on the way in. The hooking problem could still be an issue, depends on the development of McShane and Hood. But that also isn't a priority if they're picking the ball up from lost collisions and slow play-the-balls.

| I like Danny Kirmond myself. Not sure he is the answer to our starting backrow, but think he is great to bring off the bench. Plays above his weight and gives a lot. But has more skill than our current backrowers.
Larne Patrick would have been perfect for what we require in the pack. It might be that Taylor at Hull KR who we were rumoured to be after could do the same.
I said a couple of years back when Saints got rid of Matty Smith that it would come back to bite them in the butt. Best british scrumhalf in country at the moment and would give a far better balance to us with the options we are using. But too late on that one, as it appears Wigan have won the race.
With the props, I have said it before and will say it again regardless of G1 believing he knows best. Huby from Cas would be a very good platform for us. Up until his injury last season he was the best prop in the competition on form. That wasn't a fluke, he is a big unit, has a good offload, and really goes at the line. Most of all he's British.

982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

He was superb for them in the cup game this year.

Nice one, I have a meeting this afternoon and I will now have to attend stinking of urine as I really, literally, have just PMSL.
