I bought the boxed set of Mitchell & Kenyon films from the National Museum of Film etc in Bradford, theres not much rugby in it but hours worth of film from that era.
And of course, theres always my wedding video
Seriously, people don't believe me when I tell them that the photographer who did the pictures offered to do a video for us for free because he'd just bought a new-fangled video camera and he wanted his assistant to learn how to use it

Quartered shirts, belts … belts! … 15 men on the pitch and you still lost 16-0 to Hunslet. Enjoy!
The RL footage produced by Mitchell & Kenyon was shown (and featured on here by me) at a club event a couple of years ago, with a presentation by RFL Historian Tony Collins.
To be honest, apparently, the stuff the BFI has on RL from M & K merely scratches the surface and even years after finding it in a milk churn in Blackburn, they're still trying to preserve the stuff.
Some of the M & K footage also contains action from the 1st Challenge Cup Final filmed (at Headingley, naturally) and the 1st try scored on film (imagine having to send it off to the Chemists for a couple of weeks, to find out if you'd scored or not !) done by some guy from Oldham at the Watersheddings .... No, it hadn't changed much.
At the time of the film, the 'Leeds' team of the were about the worst going .... Indeed, it could be argued around the turn of the 19th / 20th Century, Leeds weren't even allowed to play in the top flight RL competition at the time. Could this be the only time the club was 'relegated' ? Instead, they took part in the Yorkshire Senior Competition, whilst the big clubs more or less formed their own league (who says Super League is a new idea ?). However, they saw sense and readmitted the Loiners the season afterwards.
To be fair at the time, the Leeds side in question was only the FOURTH best professional rugby league side in Leeds .... One of the others they were playing against, but (TVOC accepted) which were the other two ?

| I mentioned on another thread that Mr H had plans some years ago to open up a museum of Leeds RL artifacts at Headingley and during the conversation it was mentioned that they have the original Northern Union declaration of independance which shows, apparently, that Leeds were not one of the foremost clubs at the time and indeed that they played in a lower competition than Hunslet (for instance) - the legend being that the Leeds representative turned up late for the meeting at The George, after all the big players had signed the contract.

Unfortunately I'm barred from entering but if I'd been allowed that would have been one of my answers along with Holbeck.

Indeed
At the time we're talking about, I think Holbeck had left the Northern Union to become some non-entity that sunk without trace ...

It happens, it really does.
Leeds, Hunslet, Leeds PC, Bramley and Holbeck were all playing in the Yorkshire Senior Comp at the same time around the turn of the century. I took a punt on Holbeck being the most obscure name among them. Besides which in head to head meetings Holbeck held the upper hand over Leeds with eight wins from their fifteen meetings.
