| I just watched the Salford highlights and again what stands out is just how embarrassingly soft their tries were. Our goal line defence is beyond amateur.
The thing with the halves is that regardless of who else is in the team we'll never be competitive with any of our current options. They're so bad at what should be the absolute basics they make the whole team look a shambles, but they keep getting picked because there's no pressure on them to up their game.

| For me a good coach should improve players both individually and as a team so what I look at in regards to Furner is:
1. Do Leeds look a well-drilled team ?
2. How many players improved under Furner ?
3. Do they play an attractive brand of footy ?
4. Does it even look like each individual knows his/their role ?
Personally I think Furner has failed in every aspect.

| It needs a massive change around you cannot keep playing the same players and expect a different result if the players who currently have the shirt are not getting better especially in defence. We are having the same discussion after every game , it is not getting better, this chap Furner will go down in the anal of history of the Rhinos as totally clueless, what a shambles.

Give over. McDermott won how many trophies without ever coming close to number 2 & 3, and he was here for years, not two minutes like Furner.
You can see clear enhancements to the games of Walker, Handley, Smith, Oledzki, and Dwyer since Furner came, so if that is one of your measurements he is way ahead of McDermot in that score in limited time.
That is not a defence, I was just using your measurement.

| I'm sorry but we look a real possibility for relegation under Furner. His post match presser last night he blamed game management on which hes correct and that puts myler hugely under the spotlight. But that's not the only issue. Our defensive attitude is amateur at best and Furner seems unable to improve that. Forget about next season as if this doesn't improve we are in major major trouble

| Using the old Cliche "it's a results business " I think we will be safe this year ,Just. ! Last year we finished 9th but it was still touch and go .I think Furner should be given until the end of the season and if by then it looks like we will struggle again in 2020 then he should be asked to leave .I'm sure there will be a get out clause for the club too

| Never mind Furner out!
Look at the dross he's inherited.
Myler is literally stealing a living and Sutcliffe as we all know is somewhat limited!
Please people open your eyes!
Myler had 2 carries, made two errors and 4 metres for his efforts! Whilst he bust 1 tackle he didnt break the line. He made 18 tackles and missed 4. He didn't score or provide an assist and his kicking was totally and utterly abysmal!
Hastings had 19 carries and made just the 1 error, however he made 126 metres and bust 5 tackles and did manage to break the line. He made 17 tackles and missed just 2.
The stats for Sutcliffe & Lui are just as bad.
Furner cannot control players kicking the ball out on the full.
Furner cannot control players missing tackles or coughing up the ball.
He can control team selection though and it's about time Myler was benched.

He can, he can decide not to pick players who serially fail to perform.

Agreed, but that is what I said. He controls team selection so bench Myler.
IMO he benched Watkins earlier this year but didn't throw him under the bus, he said he had a knock. I am not sure he's scared to do it.
He clearly thinks nothing of McClelland by playing Smith in the halves the other week but the way Myler is playing he literally cannot be any worse.
Myler consistently misses 1 in 3 tackles, he had a hand in 3 of the trys KR scored the other day.

I totally agree myler is very poor. But it's far from just about that.. the total lack of defensive structure and attitude to it is severely lacking and a good coach should be able to get his players to do that.

You have chosen in both the past and the present to constantly put him down and blame him for everything. You have blamed him for poor recruitment despite no clear evidence of this. In my opinion GH has obviously been in charge of recruitment and has been reluctant to spend money until after Mac was replaced.
You choose to give Furner credit for enhancements to the games of several players. The only player that has performed better this season is Dwyer and you could argue Walker has gone backwards. In the past year you would have expected the youngsters to have enhanced their games with or without a coach as they mature physically and gain more experience.
What is historically clear is that McDermott inherited a squad of players that were past their peak and were increasingly showing their age. He never enjoyed the luxury of a marquee player let lone two, and he had the great handicap of several seasons with half his squad out of action with long term injuries and he lost one whole pre-season training due to floods. When the spine of the team retired or moved away his boss never recruited quality replacements and at the time the quality coming from the academy was not good enough yet he introduced several youngsters.
Despite all these factors Mac was able to motivate the team and produce games plans to win a record number of trophies and outperform all the competition in the business end of the season on a regular basis. This was a unique and fine performance that should not be under rated and over the last year both Sinfield and Furner have got less from the squad despite several new signings.
I have never been one to call for a coach to be sacked and I think Furner deserves more time and could become a successful first team coach. However he did not come with a good record as head coach and his interviews do not fill me with confidence and I get the feeling he has relied on Sinfield's flawed opinions regarding team selection and player assessment.
Until we sign a class half back who is able to read and control a game we will continue to flounder. You cannot blame McDermott for this over the last year at the very least.

He’s talking nonsense as usual when it comes to McDermott. Virtually every point he made above is incorrect. I said virtually, because he is totally correct on the halfs. Although I can blame McDermott in part for that, because of the reason I have continually blamed him, he had no interest in developing the skills of young players to produce our own replacement there. Even then, he was the one approving the signing of Lolohea for this year.
