You really don't want a huge screen hanging above the southstand, it would be covered in spitballs by the final whistle.

Or that f*cking cut up newspaper that gets f*cking everywhere.

Or Beer. I'm often covered in beer when somebody gets too excited. Which as a teetotaller is particularly annoying. Primarily because I'm usually sober and grumpy.

Like for like without the pillars, with terraces that will not fall down and better facilities. That would have been perfect. The roof looks like one of those that will not keep the atmosphere in. Pretty much the one thing the South Stand has had going for it over the last 20 years is the atmosphere that gets generated and trapped in by the low roof. The view has always been awful, although less so since they took out the spiral staircase.

I still feel like I can see less with the old thing gone!

And I miss Stevo and Eddie climbing it pre-match. I'd love it if Clarke had to do it nowadays.

These are my thoughts exactly. All the marketing GH has done over the years with the "South Stand Brand" i.e merchandise & mentions in the press of the unique atmosphere etc looks very hollow indeed now. Two of the crucial factors in positive atmosphere generated have been the low roof and the fact that the ground has always been compact with no big gaps in the corners.

With the raised corner of the western terrace (behind the flood light) being reduced, the South Stand / East Stand joining terrace being removed & now what appears to be the terrace joining the west stand and south stand being taken away I fear the atmosphere and unique "Headingley experience" will be dampened significantly.

The biggest critisisms from Warrington fans about their "new ground" when it was built was the gaps in the corners & high roof. They are about to start work on filling in 2 corners.
