| Quote Marty Grrrrrrrrrr!="Marty Grrrrrrrrrr!"Good win tonight defended our goaline better than at any point this season
A win that should lift a bit of pressure off everyone at the club. We badly needed that.
As people have said Handley and Briscoe did a really nice job in tough conditions.
Pleased for Tui to get that try.
The whole pack worked had with Merrin again outstanding and big Ava did well particularly in hos 2nd spell.
Newman the star though. Hes really showing the ability I've seen in the academy. Hes a good defender at this level now, hes strong, athletic and got great footwork and speed. An outstanding young talent and weve plenty more in the wings.
Let's not make out everything in the garden is rosy again, were miles off and Wakey was poor but we showed a lot of heart and spirit tonight.
Weve lead games by 6 and 8 points this year and we all felt we would lose it late on but I never felt that tonight. We seemed in control defensively throughout which was pleasing.
Let's hope we can build on it now.'"
Agreed, on the Tui try it was an exceptional piece of defending from the wingers and to give Tui the credit he took that really well, its harsh of people to say he went for the easy option, he didn’t, he was really aware that the wingers had tracked back and took exactly the correct option, there is a talented player in there and in a better ‘team’ he may shine, not sure whether we have that luxury at the moment though.
Merrin was again outstanding and a big wrap to Watkins who worked his socks off and was very unlynot to get the try

| Hats off the lads.
Far from a classic from either side but pleasing to see them dig in.
The silly penalties need to stop though, on another night the overall weight of Wakefield pressure would have told.
They need to go again next week against Wigan. Get a result then and we can start to feel a little happier about avoiding relegation.

| I thought Singo and Ferres were the poorest of the pack, Lui the backs. Myler I'll give the benefit of the doubt to. While his kicks weren't the most attacking, he didn't serve up some of he horrors he has in the past. That right hand side still needs work defensively. Wakey's execution was diabolical but they knew where the space was alright; Williams won't let us off the hook so easy, especially on a dry park.
Sounds a bit negative, that. But much quicker to type a list of shortcomings than it would have been to type a list of what worked and who played well. I was proud of the team last night. Been a while.

| Forgot. I'd also like to credit Hicks with an excellent reffing performance. Unfortunately I can't.

Inconsistent the only thing nice to say. Although ridiculously inconsistent.

| Thing that annoyed me most about Hicks last night is he spoke so well about refereeing on Rugby AM recently and then proceeded to act like a pedantic school teacher. The game was never going to flow due to the conditions but some of the whistle blowing for pens was ridiculous. And the missed knock ons, forward passes and offsides from him and the touchies was shocking. Awful.

| All the credit goes to our defence imo yea Wakey made errors but how many of those were forced by our defensive shape line speed or impact? Plenty of them.
Although Tui took his try well he's still way off been good enough imo 3 times in that 1st half Handley covered kicks he should be ckearing up.
In the pack Ferres & Singo still not good enough the rest were very good in those conditions.
Newman showed the Centre spot is his to lose & credit KW he was excellent in the BR.

Yes our line speed and shape was far better than it has been, changed the dynamic of the game.

| i thought newman played it really smart on his break, he didn't have the speed to get there and he risked getting too close to the touchline where almost any tackle coming in from the side would send him into touch
tui might be a good assett next season once the conditioner works on him but i bet no one thought he had the speed to go that far for his try

| Positives
Our defence was excellent, the best it’s been this season. And obviously we picked up 2 much needed points in the league. Newman, Dwyer, Merrin and Seumanufagai all played well.
Negatives
Our attack is dreadful. Lolohea had a poor game, with the exception of his interception try. Ashton Golding should have start at full back next week for me. And how does Brad Singleton keep making the side, he is the new Jamie Mathiou.
