| Quote: rugbyleague88 "I think last time we played NZ, it was just after we had won the treble and there was a big feel good factor at the club. In the early days people thought the likes of Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow, Peacock etc. were going to be playing against the Kiwis and then it ended up a reserve side which was pretty disappointing.
This fixture could be a repeat with 10 world cup players out and any players who are leaving the club not being involved.'"
I think its a rare event for a SL team to play a full international side, I hope we get a faire few there, will be a good event regardless of who's playing IMO

| There's no reason at all for Briscoe, Sutcliffe and Dwyer not to be playing. They're still under contract, they can't just refuse to play!
Plus it's a high-profile game - I can't see why they would not want to play in it.

I guess we’ll see. If I was in Briscoe’s shoes and had no deal signed for next year, I’d only play if I was planning to retire.
It’s not a regular season game, it’s a warm up for NZ. If it was golf or snooker fair enough. Dwyer won’t have played for 5 weeks. Say Dwyer plays and does his ACL. He’s on a 1 year deal at FC, he may not play a game for them. Maybe I’m too cynical but if I was at FC I’d be advising him to not play.

I'm sure FC would like to but not sure they can make that call given their contracts run until November. I think Rohan mentioned the game being a chance to say farewell to the leavers though I guess that needn't mean in a playing capacity.

Be interesting to see the team.
Morley and Ali played for us last time
I wonder if we might get Cuthbo, Delaney and Ferres back for a send off?
JJB must start, with Ablett off the bench

Think some have been announced but not all,
The 10 he probably referred to below,
Fusitu’a - Tonga
Martin - PNG
Tetevano - Cook Islands
Bentley, Myler - Ireland
Handley, Oledzki, Leeming, Smith, Hardaker - England (Possible)
Tindall - Knights

| Rohan did mention we could have 8-10 players in world cup teams hopefully they all pull through ok and it doesn't disrupt pre season too much I'm thinking.
Oledzki (England)
Bentley, Myler (Ireland)
Martin (PNG)
Tetevano (Cook Islands)
Fusitu'a ( Tonga)
Sangare ( France)
Edwards (Jamaica)
Possibly Leeming, Handley & Hardaker (England).

| Of course they can refuse to play. What are Leeds going to do, sack them?

It also completely misunderstands the attitude of players. A big, televised event against one of the best teams in the world. They will want to play.

| I wasn't talking about whether the players want to play, just that with those leaving Leeds have no leverage if they didn't want to. If they want to play fine, but don't compare someone leaving a normal job to someone playing a post-season friendly where an injury could jeopardise future earnings. Not the same thing at all.
I would also expect the clubs that have signed them to be interested. Maybe they are Ok with them playing, but if not, who would you listen to - your new employer or the club you are notionally in the last weeks of working for?

It's scheduled to be yes although I don't think it's been announced yet.
