After squelching home many a late evening/afternoon, underpants soaked to my nether regions, two weeks of work with double pneumonia, the cost for standing in the away supporters end is very high, and maybe that young whippersnapper Barry McDermott should try a rain lashing eighty minutes there before declaring the greatest stadium

Wish I was mate. They did the Hull game and the players got in for free. For some reason they're being charged this time. We're a Leeds based team but close to Cas so, for some reason, we're doing it through the Cas foundation. But I've been told that both clubs are charging players. A far cry from the days we could get in for free at half time

No doubt people would also complain if they were only allowed entry to the stadium at half time and escorted out of the stadium after their half time game.'"
Seems unreasonable that youth teams are invited to take part but the players are charged, but 2 coaches are free so go figure. It's only a fiver but how much is being made through parents and siblings who wouldn't be attending if it wasn't for the kids playing? I'm not losing sleep over it, just don't think it's a sign of a game connected to it's roots

| Some people want everything for free. No doubt if it was free tickets for coaches, players, players parents, players siblings and players grandparents some would still find something to complain about.

| Club needs to hustle and make money at the end of the day. Their costs will be going up as well.

Wouldn't say kids getting a free ticket if they're playing is wanting everything for free. I don’t expect a free ticket as a parent. And factor in that there will be people going to the game purely because their kid/sibling/grandkid is playing, the club will making more from gate receipts anyway.
Some people like to argue the toss about everything. No doubt if they were in a room with just a mirror, they'd still manage to have an argument

Surely the kids are part of the clubs entertainment package and therefore doing the club a favour by playing. No way the kids should pay. As you rightly say the club will be profiting from family members attending and thats fair enough I think its terrible the club are charging kids.
Ive no idea how anyone can argue that charging the kids is wrong.
Do Operaman and others have to pay to entertain also?

| It’s absolutely tight and foresighted that kids should pay. I’d allow kids in free to watch too for a game like this that won’t be sellout….

| Take your kids swimming, to the cinema, bowling, to Elland Road you’ll be paying, I don’t know why it would be different at Headingley. £5 is great value, as are kids season tickets. Getting on the pitch at half time is a bonus. Enjoy the occasion.

| I know everyone is tightening the purse strings and that includes the club. They have just gone through the worst income period for many a year with higher expenses in loan repayments etc than ever before. I know years ago when my young un played at half time they were given free entry to the game and parents were given 1/2 price tickets to watch, not that it made any difference to me as I had a season ticket anyway. I don't begrudge the club charging at this point in time for parents or kids, in fact if my kid was playing I'd be happy to pay for them and any family members that wanted to come and watch

You could always offer to sponsor a junior club or underwrite their admission costs if it's something you feel strongly about. Shouldn't be too hard to find a list of teams.

Not the same scenarios though are they? Take your kid swimming etc, you pay for the facilities and service. What are the kids paying for? They play a game of rugby and wave the flags.
I'm in a position where the £5 isn't a problem, but there's families without much disposable income. And they don't want their kids to miss out. I know the club need to make money, so why let the coaches in for free? Would they not pay to go swimming or bowling? So your argument is flawed right there.
The kids absolutely love this opportunity and it's a great way to grow the fanbase and sport. Get them hooked and the £5 free ticket will be a small drop in the income ocean. They should see it as an investment. I dont expect 6ou to agree, and I dont agree with you
