| Catalans game aside (and yes, his indiscipline played a major part in the loss) he's been pretty decent for us this season - pretty much as Marty says.

| Unfortunately it's just one of the (many) signings which hasn't worked out.
I'd be disappointed if we re-signed Ferres because his best years are clearly behind him, and as he slows down all he has left it this annoying niggle. We do lack toughness but not at the expense of penalties at critical, momentum-changing moments when we're under the pump as a club.
He is a solid RL player but doesn't seem to have the match-winning spark we badly need these days.
Nothing against him, he's been very unlucky with injuries with us. I just think the salary would be better spent elsewhere from 2020 onwards.

Pretty decent to what? to his team mates? probably so but that isn't saying much. But to other players in the comp, he has been a million miles away from pretty decent, he has been complete garbage.
Sorry Marty but I dissagree with your post up above, he deserves all he gets. Not for the general performance, as he is limited, thats the clubs fault for employing him. But for his general attitude and discipline there is no excuse at all, he deserves all the absuse he gets in that regards.

| Unfortunately he a bit like Marmite you either like him or hate him. He gives stupid penalties away in positions where the team can hurt us, (a bit like Ablett) but generally his defence is good. We wont have him for Thursday night whereas the right hand side of the defence has been like a sieve letting in tries, the side he plays on has generally performed better. We will see this Thursday where the Cas tries come from, I hope that if the left hand side turns out like the right hand side of our defence in the future we will give him a little more respect. Unfortunately comments on here go a lot deeper that the effort he puts in. Yes he was stupid last Saturday so you don't need to remind me.

| He is good in D until he gives away the predictable, critical penalties for unnecessary niggle. JJB very similar IMO, always liable for disciplinary brain farts, hands in the ruck or messing about on the tackled player.
Going forward been really disappointing, hardly seen him bust the line or put an offload out it seems. Merrin has come in and is leading the offload table straight off, and generally looks a better version of Ferres.
Sometimes work in defence does go unnoticed, but it's no good tackling well if you then put 12 of your teammates in oxygen debt because you regularly do something stupid 2-3 times per game which they need to cover your backside for. It's exactly in these small margins where we're losing games, we must tighten up what we can control.

| You people are idiots. He's not even the most penalised player on the team. That's what I pay marquee money for.

Not that I disagree with you but Merrin is our worst offender in the penalty department this year, he leads that table too (for the Rhinos not the league)
Interestingly or not (as results are really all that matter) we as a team are doing pretty good in the KPI department in the stats league, Hurrell top metre maker, Handley top try scorer and Merrin top offloader, but I suspect the fact we as a team are top of the error stats league and 3rd in missed tackles is more interesting.
Hurrell and Walker are in the top 2 positions for tackle busts and Handley is the top for clean breaks and as a club we are the top in the stats charts for those two aswell.
Hull KR's stats don't read well though with way more errors than other teams - We should be winning our game against them, however games aren't played on paper

| You are obviously forgetting the situation in which you signed Ferres. We (Huddersfield) had to let the little grub go because he has been shagging Huby's wife (who we kept and was also crap), so you probably got him on a decent contract. However, he has played like the total grub he is and hasn't even been worth the lower money you no doubt paid for him at the time. I'm glad his professional career has spiralled downward after his grubby incident that ruined the atmosphere in our dressing room for a time.

He will be on big money for sure.He had a pick of a few clubs i recall and the roosters were looking at him. Despite his despicable act which you have highlighted he was a player at the time who was in his prime, playing well as a starter for England too so its baffling how bad he has been really over the time he has spent with us.
Been a terrible signing , and i'm sure you are not regretting one bit losing him.

| Well last Thursday nights game v Cas was the best I have seen Ferres play - No penalties conceded from him too - he manages to stay in the Stand for the whole 80 minutes without getting sin-binned too.

| Personally I think Furner needs to resist putting players like Ferres straight back in, regardless of their form. He has talked about needing more "experience", but I don't necessarily buy that - it has usually been our "experienced" players owning the brain farts and making critical errors, rather than the younger lads. We should be preventing pressure in the first place rather than always trying to fire fight.
I do think he'll make a contribution this year, but I don't think he should be at Leeds next year (although I suspect he might well be).

| If feres is at leeds nxt year then god help us...although i agree, wouldnt be suprised. Dreadful player, not sure where some are seeing his solid defence, his defence is just as bad as his attack, which takes some doing.

| Given he's been given the captaincy on a few occasions since Sinfield came in as DOR, I think it's safe to assume he'll be around next year...

Danny McGuire was captain, he left.
