No. He's a Wiganner, from the Ince area.

I also remember Wane getting the nickname of Tampax during his time at Leeds.

| You took a few from the Wigan club that didn't really settle, Wane, Gregory, Goodway, Goulding.

The first three were done when we got them, that was another great thing about Wigan of those times, they knew when the time was right to move on players even if they were club legends, and always seemed to have a ready made replacement.
Goulding was a different story. His best years were ahead of him but he was never going to hit his potential in that leeds culture of the time so its hard to look back at him going with too much regret.

I regret letting Goulding go, we all no why (rumors) he really haunted us for a few years and was instrumental in getting Saints the first super league title and wane them a couple of challenge cups. the other three, Goodway was finished, wane just took the money and ran(very plodded) Gregory wasn't bad, past his best yes, but was still the incumbent GB 7 when we signed him. he still got a few good years in at Salford after he left us, apparently did not like the traveling to Leeds every day for training. and didn't like training full stop.

| I have heard the rumours about Goulding RT but my point is i don't think he would have kicked on with us had he stayed. We had Hanley and Schofield already in place 2 big personalities, when he went to widnes they had lost all their big names just about and he was the main man, what he needed at the time and by the time he got to saints they were the top dogs and he was the main man for them at the right time whist we were entering a period of turmoil. I don't really think there was ever any chance of him working out for us at that time, if it had been late 90's onwards however...

Fletcher: Course, he sees 'imself as an authority on curry, he does, on account of where he was stationed in the army.
Rudge: Where? India?
Fletcher: No, Bradford.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40413.jpg |

| Other than Ellery (about 10 years too late), David Furner was our best pickup from the Wigan club.

Great player Furner, one we should have kept. One of the toughest players you will ever meet.

| Bobby Goulding could have been a fantastic long term 7 for us
IMO I think that both club and player will realise that it was a lost opportunity at the time due to his indiscretions
Gregory tried his best whilst at the club but it sadly didn't ever work out,but I will still give him the respect that he deserves
Shaun Wane on the other hand is a complete hypocrite as he was one of worst signings that we have ever made and he showed none of the qualities that he now demands from his Wigan players as being capable of a Wigan type performance each week
I'd bet that he made less meters whilst at Leeds than any of his recent front rowers at Wigan in Clubb,Flower and Sutton at that would be pretty low

| To be fair to Wane, he wasn't anything like a star player when we signed him. He was what he always was - a small, immobile prop. In reality its amazing he had the career he did given his limitations.
Of the ones mentioned Goulding was the biggest loss IMO. We exchanged him for Tait and some cash, but Tait was always a bit overrated in my book, and certainly did nothing for us in big games. Had Goulding stayed we might have been spared the Holroyd/Schofield halfback pairing, and Goulding's strengths were almost exactly Schofield's weaknesses, and vice versa.
