| Quote: Exeter Rhino "Good. This is the experience he needs that for some reason he's not able to get at Leeds. Hopefully he'll be retained by us at the end of the season if his form continues, provided bridges haven't been burnt with Headingley.'"
Really hope briges haven't been burnt, McShane at one point was playing really well - hopefully we'll see him again at HQ.

| I with tongue firmly in cheeky suggested that Macca would get Cross over for one. Be careful what you wish for.
Nice moment for Cross, celebrated it in a perfect manner, long time coming so enjoy it.
As for macca if he's playing plenty of minutes and games leave him there. Leeds don't want to offer him that at the minute so would much prefer to see him week-in week-out in Super League than in our 20's. Bigger picture.

| So, we're writing Lunt off for not living up to a good debut, but at the same time declaring McShane the future after a good debut?
Just checking.
With all due respect, being Widnes' best player is generally an achievement akin to being the world's tallest dwarf.

Worlds tallest d-warf? Still on about Macca then?

| Not sure I follow you're drift.
Quote: Paul McShane " I'm settling in really well and it helps that I've walked into an environment where the lads are close-knit with no divides whatsoever within the camp.
The coaching set-up is fantastic too, and it's obvious that Denis and his team know each other really well and there's an understanding and a trust between them which is the ideal formula and exactly what you need to succeed.'"
Ouch.
Nice to hear from someone inside the Headingley camp what the current issues really are. Much easier than wading through some of the uninformed waffle that has recently appeared.
For seasoned Leeds watchers I doubt it'll come as any great surprise.

Not sure what it's got to do with what's going down on St Michael's Lane?

| Yup. When I checked back the first thing I read was the you 'r e and thought D'OH ... as you do.
__________
It's clearly just a comment on his new working environment at Widnes and is not in any way shape or form to be interpreted as a comparison to the situation he's temporarily left behind at his parent club.
That's plain to see and anyone who thinks differently is merely mischief making, IMO.

| I went to watch Broncos vs Widnes on Saturday - one of the lads I coached at 15 and 16 was making his home debut. McShane put some nice kicks in from dummy half, passed OK, didn't run much. He got run over badly a couple of times in defence - flat out buried by the runner. He'll either need to get better at defending, or hidden out of the middle of the defence (as we do with Burrow and something I see happening as teams move to lightweight hookers) or teams will get at him.

Looking at Paul McShane's stats from his first two Widnes Vikings games he's missed 3/71 tackles and has been Widnes's second top tackler in both games so the myth about his tackling continues i guess, The evidence also doesn't seem to suggest "He got run over badly a couple of times in defence" vs London:
McShane vs Huddersfield Giants (34 Tackles & 2 Missed Tackles)
McShane vs London Broncos (37 Tackles & 1 Missed Tackle)

| Did you see the game George?
Richie - it appears from his post - did and I'd personally accept his critique of McShane's defensive contribution over the Opta counts which may or may not be accurate in any event.

| His tackling since 2011 in leeds colours has been very good. Gets stuck in. Helps when he tackles down middle as is aided with 2nd and 3rd men assisting him to down his man. He holds on for all he's got though. His defence is not an issue at all IMO.

I too would accept Richie's critique over george's reading of stats for the reasons you have said and because I am aware of his coaching credentials.
