Any more news on your quote that the Rhinos are signing Rangi Chase and Danny Buderus is staying with us for 2012?
I hope you're right but I heard last night that DH has more or less given a commitment to Buderus that he will be released from his contract so he can return to the Knights.
With Chase the potential problem for any English club is the granting of a new visa after his recent court case. If he stays with the Tigers fine but there could be a strong possibility of refusal for another visa which is required if he changes clubs. The same visa principle applied to Hauraki when he joined us from the Crusaders and look how long that took and there were no problems! I've been told therefore that if Chase leaves Cas it will be to a NRL club. This means all the talk of Chase being signed by Warington is rubbish as well.
I hope I'm wrong with the above comments regarding the Rhinos but if you know better let us know! Gary H has made some signings and we are just waiting to be told who?

How long would Chase's current visa last?
If he leaves the country to go home to the Antipodes after this season won't he need a new visa to return? In which event his status is the same regardless of who will play for next year, ie he'll have to apply for a new one.
Or would that only apply if he changes his employer?

I think a new visa applies only if Chase changes his employer. If the Rhinos are interested no doubt they will have checked all this out!

afaik Chase will have to apply for a new visa whenever his original tigers contract was due to run out, not when the extension runs out.

I think there's a Cut Off for Signing and the Loopholes were Closed when Bradford cheated with Morley in 2005.

I reckon there's a good chance Chase has denied rumours that he's leaving because he's not leaving.
