| Quote McLaren_Field="McLaren_Field"As someone else has pointed out the only food outlets other than the airport are a good 15 to 20 minute walk away at Murgatroyds + Brewers Fayre + a.n.other chippie which are all situated at a traffic light junction on the main road.
It is a good long walk though, they are on the opposite side of the airport to the Travelodge so you have to do a big circle around it, if you're not into walking then use one of the several taxis that park in the Travelodge car park since you can't park anywhere within ten miles of the place now (another reason why I won't use airports).
If you're walking then turn right as you come out of the TL, walk past the airport until you come to a roundabout on the main road, turn left and continue on that road through the tunnel under the runway and just when you think you've walked too far you'll find the next junction and your food outlets.
Just don't take a wrong turning as you're in the middle of nowhere, if I see you walking past my house I'll turn you around and send you back

on the car parking front last couple of times we have been away have been for a week in portugal and a few days in prague, parked at the airport for both, i reckon it was cheaper than taxis to the airport and back for the prague trip, and just a bit more expensive for the week trip, imo well worth it for the convenience of jumping in your own car and getting home in no time, and not stressing about the taxi turning up on the outward trip. |

Local folklore is that The Fountain is the chippy of choice between it and Murgatroyds, can't say I've ever used it myself though.
As for airports - their hassles aren't going to bother me for a long, long time, not if I have anything to do with it anyway. |
