| Right decision, wrong time. Should have left it until the end of season. I gather Brian is angry and bitter, understandably so.
Maybe if he gets chance to explain his side of things we may be able to assess the situation. Could be he has identified players to sign and GH has refused due to lack of funds. As always two sides to a story, although the teams performance at Wigan with a relatively strong team was dire. Without doubt that would be the straw that broke the camels back. Wouldn’t have Powell back nor any other British coach at the moment. Smith would be a good temporary stand ,in he also could help in advising on a new coach. Certainly the whole playing squad could do with a shake up , both tactically and mentally.

| Alternatively GH may have told BMD that there would be a parting of the ways at the end of the season and BMD replied with back me or sack me so GH had no choice...

Ideally yes but that may have been put to BM and he declined. Also if GH had left it to the end of the season without saying anything and then pulled the trigger BM would still have felt aggrieved feeling that he could have turned the corner the following season. It's clear he was never going to walk on his own terms, he had to be pushed and that is never nice however you try and dress it up sadly, and no matter how well you do in the past, it's not a job for life 8 seasons is an amazing run at a club like ours, unlikely to be matched anytime soon.

I'd like to see Powell because he has a track record of bringing through younger players and developing them and his teams play an exciting brand of rugby.'"
I have said it for the last 2/3 seasons, Darryl Powell will be the next Leeds coach. Granted, I believed it would be because Brian Mc would be the next England coach

That's like looking at the Leeds A team from 1983.

| May as well muddle through until the end of this season with Eaton and his band of helpers . Then hopefully get a decent coach ( no, not Francis Cummins ! ) and some new forwards and a proper half back

You have been calling for BMD to be sacked since 2011 so you must be very happy now. You never forgave him for proving you wrong so many times did you? So many Grand Final and Challenge Cup victories and so many slices of humble pie for you to eat.
I recall when Sinfield retired in your wisdom your preferred choice of a replacement was Sutcliffe right? How's that worked out then? Cut yourself another slice RM

I would like to think that now he has gone, and to be fair in not the best circumstances that he can now get some respect from certain posters who have wanted him out since he started. I think its the right move for the club but McDermott deserves to be recognised for what he and his teams achieved, sometimes against all the odds.

| Powell seems to have ruled himself out. Never say never but thought it was a long shot.

| Deep in my heart I feel we will get the next appointment wrong and we will go through a few coaches over the next few years until we stumble across the perfect one . Hope I’m wrong but I feel a Dean Lance moment coming

| Brian Carney on Sky Sports calling it an 'epic mistake'. I hope he's wrong! He does seem to assume the decision has been made purely for the recent run of losses, however...
