| Quote: Gotcha "That is quite a bit of a spin there Eagle, so not sure if what saying correct. So might have misunderstood.
Yes built on youngsters coming through, planned of course, but also "around" quality overseas players. Without those quality "overseas" players likely the youngsters wouldn't have progressed. The part played of players like Dunneman, Furner, Buderus, Ali, Webb, Donald, Kylie, Poching, Bai, even Ailton and Delaney, can not have been missed. We have been equally reliant on overseas players as any other team over the years.
We would have been relegated last year without the signing of Segeyaro. This year we are where we are because of Parcell, that can simply not be down played.'"
Much of what you say is correct. But the core was homegrown. 1, 6,7,9,13 were all homegrown. With the exception of Ali the top signings were planned.
Whilst segyaro was a key signing last year, and was vital in us cruising through the middle 8s none of us know whether we'd have been relegated or not.
For me Barba will here in England 18months maximum, or he'll be very average. If he shows any good form he'll be back in the nrl just like segyaro.
Long term we'll be better off with what we have.
That's not saying we shouldn't sign top players, even if they have a chequered past, but we shouldn't do so at the expense of promising juniors and the homegrown ethos of the club

| Barba will be straight back to Oz as soon as possible. He's just come here to sit out his ban!

I agree, it has a big whiff of Segeyaro about it. I hope i'm wrong mind, he will be an asset to SL for as long as he is here.

| No thanks. Isn't what we need at all. I'd stick with Briscoe unless McGillivray would be interested in joining us.

Benji has a job in media earning more than any SL club could throw at him and no way his Mrs would move.
Jimmy the jet is no chance, just resigned with Brisbane for a few years (3 I think). Would be on 3 x more than any SL team could get close to. More chance of signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

| Been told a few times in the past few hours that Myler has signed for us next season. Happy if so.

Yeah likewise, surprised he's only just turned 27 though, seems to be around for ages now and thought he was nearer 29 hitting 30. So at least we would be getting him at prime age. Isn't a goal kicker though which is a shame.

| I'm not sure. given the lack of available quality half backs I'm leaning to him being a good signing of true

Yeah I am seeing that point. Some people dreamed of managing to pluck an NRL HB over but I've never thought it realistic, at least not a proven one who wouldn't be a gamble. Similarly I never for a second thought Widdop would leave the NRL. Doesn't leave too much over here, making a move for Patton would've been interesting if he does want to leave Wire but an older more experienced choice might be more suitable right now as I imagine it'd be 95% certain that McGuire will be retiring if the Myler news is true.
