Extremely proud rugby fan right now. Well done Leeds, and well done Kevin Sinfield. The man is pure class, and after the year he's had as a captain of your treble winning side, plus the 20 odd years before that, I'm glad he's got the recognition. I was honestly genuinely surprised he was placed 2nd. I find that to be a huge achievement considering the competition and the ignorance of our sport generally. Anyway, congrats Kev.

Words cannot express how PROUD I am as a Rhinos fan right now.

What has happened this year has been nothing short of astonishing. You would never have believed it in a million years that we would win the treble and Kevin Sinfield will bow out with runner up in SPOTY with enough votes to have won it in previous years.

Seeing fans from other clubs congratulating him as 'Sir Kev' and finally speaking highly of him and the Leeds clubs is amazing to see.

Just checked on my phone. 142 attempts & I got through to the nice lady 13 times. Plus my three BBC on line votes. It was frustrating getting through only 9% of the time.

I called 37 times and got through twice.

Plenty of people on twitter saying similar too.

Well done Kev and very well done the RL community for putting aside club bias. This was a remarkable result for our sport which was up against the establishment's favorite sports.

The BBC showed their bias giving Murray the advantage of the last slot on the show in addition to the best front row seats and plenty of exposure with repeated camera shots. The real surprise was that the BBC did not find an award to give to Andy's mum!

One of the establishment's favourite sports, I'd agree. Unfortunately for Kev, Murray's ancestry almost certainly ensured a large anti-(English) establishment vote from north of the border too. Had Adam Peaty or any other of the lower-polling candidates been a Scot too then Kev would almost certainly have dropped down the list.

Speaking of nationality voting, it was a joke that they gave the Northern Ireland coach the Coach of the year award just because the show was held in Belfast. Had in been in Cardiff I guess Chris Coleman would've won it.

The lifetime achievement award to a lad from Antrim, and the Unsung Hero award to someone from Belfast.

Not that I'm alleging any kind of Northern Irish bias in the award giving, you understand.

As a Saints fan, I just want to say Well Done Kevin.
