Hi Will.
I've decided to have a nibble on this one. In what respect(s) were they not independent?

They didn't choose an Aussie.

Hi El.D.
I've no idea who the alleged independent arbiters were and neither has anyone else. rlThe head honcho at LPL in Brighouse supplied several lame reasons for refusing to name the arbiters and who they voted forrl. Until we know who those arbiters are and how they voted, how could we possibly know for certain they were independent?

| Perhaps the most embarrassing thing about those who argue against Sinfield winning the award is when they've name dropped the fact of Brighouse as the location of the magazine (such as Will Eve and that streak of pi$$ Danny Lockwood) as if they're biased towards English players........yet we have only 2 English winners from the last 14 years........some bias towards England is that!

2 winners in 14 seems to me to be possibly too big a number of British winners when comparing the merits and standards of the previous players voted for by the international panels selected previously.
Given the fact that the some or all of those previous international panels were not asked/allowed to vote this time may give you an insight into why some people are questioning the decision.
The questionable excuses given to explain the lack of transparency in the voting also doesn't quieten the rumblings more so adds fuel to the fire for those who are miffed/baffled by the result.
Although confused at some fans irritation at this decision, as I can't understand why anyone would get so worked up over something like this, I also find the scrambling for justifications for the decision equally embarrassing and baffling.

Indeed. But then, how can we know that they weren't?

Because if we didn't have some voices trying to big up and be positive about good things that happen in the sport then we'll just be left with the negative voices making a noise......and then people will wonder why new fans aren't flocking to this sport that they keep hearing only bad things about.

| Back to the goal kicking record I have just checked it out and the record for consecutive kicks is 41 in the UK by Featherstones Liam Finn. The record in the NRL is 34 by canterburys El Nasri, does anyone know how many Sir Kevin is on at the moment ?

It's been established elsewhere on here that Sinfield now has 27 (?) consecutive goals as he missed a couple against France for England. But yeah, 36 in a row in SL.
