Well we don't really have any other choice to be fair. But the longer it takes to go through the less chance we have of going up imo. Last season we ended up with a squad put together about the week before the season started. I'm not exactly ecstatic about the signings we've made to date either. Pearce will be a good buy, but I'm not jumping for joy at the others.

I agree the longer it goes on the less chance of success, but after 7 years of bates I am just looking forward to a fresh start.

On the signings I have not seen much of Pearce but Pompey fans rave about him and he is a good age. Kenny is an upgrade on lonergan though slightly surprised it was a 3 year deal. Green an drury not the most exciting so just hope they go well.

So still 5/6 players needed plus ship out the dead wood which is never easy

Varney and Peltier are rumoured to be close to being announced. I think Peltier should go well for us but not that keen on Varney especially if he's supposed to be a replacement for Mccormack. Rudolph Austin is also a player we are after who plays for Brann, from what i've read he looks a decent defensive mid and would add some grunt in the middle which we've been lacking. There is also rumours that we are talking to Maynard but I doubt that will be true to be quite honest. Other players linked have been Kightly, Bannan and Cox. I would be pleased with any/all of those 3.

- Ashdown was at Boro but Warnock convinced him to sign for Leeds.
- Warnock has been after Varney for seven years, he's unpredictable and he's expecting goals from him.
- Wanted Rodolph Austin for a long time but he was previously worth £2m, says we got him for a tenth of the price.
- Varney will join the squad in a day or two, Austin will go back to Norway to sort a work permit.
- The crucial signings are yet to come.
- No news on timing of takeover.
- Mentions that "the chairman" (Bates) is helping him secure his targets, also implies Harvey is heavily involved.

Varney, Grey, Ashdown and Austin in one day is good business. Bid of 1M for Nicky Maynard rejected, but id expect us to go back with another one and official approach for Lee Peltier made today, things looking very good!
