| Gunn wasn't just not big enough, he wasn't quick enough to play the style he wanted to either at loose forward.
I tell you what sometimes we laugh about these obscure players, but they are the mainstays of all clubs. Its a shame there are less of them around thanks to disbanding the A Teams. A lot of real characters, and guys playing for love of the game. Not to mention some very handy old guys teaching young whippersnappers a thing or two about what to expect in open age rugby. Young props today will miss out on the kind of 'lesson' I remember Roy Holdstock and John Millington of Hull KR giving to Brendan Hill one night.

| Quote: mix-tape "One of my old mates used to play for Dewsbury with him about a year after he had left Leeds and he was never able to understand the rules of RL then so god knows what he was like at Leeds.
Does anybody remember Morvin Edwards? he was a full back i think in the early 90's (i think they got him to replace Gallagher) really rated him back then.'"
Edwards was another good player - really liked him. I dont think Ive ever seen a player take so many head high shots and just keep coming back for more. Wouldn't mind him now actually.

| The shot Edwards took at the Zoo off Mark Forster was a pearler. It still holds the gum shield propulsion record for speed and distance travelled to this day.

| I remember Edwards seeming to get hit in the head a lot. Wonder why? IIRC he had quite an upright running style but its weird how some players just seem to get hit a lot.

| I think it was because he had a face only his mum and Southstander.com could love.

Not sure about my memory here but didn't this case become bit of a "cause celebre" and lead to a court case ( said my memory was hazy!) and left the RFU with an indefensible position as their players were taking boot money and they were on the verge of turning pro? Shortly after their banning of players "professionalised" ceased.

The Pilgrim case was discussed across the floor of the House of Commons. The one year ban the RFU placed on Pilgrim in '93 still stood though despite the sport taking a beating with regard to the shamateur status of the code from MP's on both sides, IIRC.
