Myler is really good at what he’s good at - he’s skilful, smart, brave… but his passing isn’t all that (forward pass denied one try and his pass to Sezer which he finished off later had Sezer stopped dead in his tracks again)… and he lacks pace.
Been a good servant during a turbulent period of Leeds history but he isn’t what we need in the future except maybe as a cheaper squad filler to cover injuries. Credit to him for making such a good switch to FB so late in his career though.

| Assuming JoC and CJ make a good fist of Hooker between them, we need to replace at least two of Fullback, Stand Off and Scrum Half next year with younger players with genuine pace.
We have plenty of cap available if we want it and can afford some good players.

Do we think Sinfield is good enough to be one of the two? From what I’ve seen of him he’s looking stronger and has good skills. Doesn’t look particularly fast, elusive or big though (but that didn’t hinder his dad too much).

Can't fault his progress at Hooker and he was sensational in this game...but I remember Sutcliffe keeping Sinny out of the team and a few others besides.
We need to be patient over the next year and see how he goes longer term as our main hooker. I hope he becomes the player he could be.
Great for us and Ireland / England.

| I hope with Sinfield we ease him in over the next few years for the obvious reasons.
I'd sign Austin again if he keeps up this season but Sezar needs replacing, hopefully with a good organising 7 that JS can learn from

We do but you can already see that O'connor has a determined mentality a few levels above sutcliffe.

Yes agree with that. It’s unlikely we will be able to replace both halves in one offseason also, out of the two Austin has been by far the better. Sezer has had his moments when he’s looked good but he’s been too inconsistent far too often to date.

| Quote Simmo71="Simmo71"Depends what our other options are.
Given the cap increase in NRL, we're not getting top level blockbuster forwards any more (maybe with the exception of Vaughan, who looks like signing of the season already).
Yes, Tet has been poor and not worth the money, but I think he's benefitting from a more solid, stable pack and could see him offered a deal on reduced terms.
But it will be Hurrell all over again. Someone else will offer him more. Then we need to replace him.
I definitely think we'll offer Austin another year. Not many players like him around. Yeh, he's inconsistent and frustrating, but he has the odd game like yesterday in him.
Can't see Sezer getting another deal on current form tbh, unless he turns it around. And again, we'll be fishing in a small pond for a replacement.
Brooks is an interesting one, but doesn't look to be the organiser we need.
Cam Smith already looks a shoe in for player of the year. Not bad for Championship standard......
'" I remember the Championship comment but cant recall who wrote it.Does the same poster still holds these views because for mine he's been consistently good now for sometime.

| Leeds played well on the weekend, however, it is the consistency which concerns me at the moment. We need to play well over 5-6 games. When at our best, I think we can compete with most sides but it isn't anywhere near often enough.
Warrington we were dire. Hull we were a bit better but still poor. Saints we played well but it had a feel of we aren't confident here so lets throw the ball around with nothing to lose. Wakefield for 50 minutes we were dire and Castleford for 80 minutes we were dire.
We seem to raise our performance for the better teams then lower it for the lesser sides.

| I just asked Ian Smith on twitter about the Catalans 4th try (seeing as it was immediately clear from the replay that the Catalans marker who first grabbed Martin wasn't standing square) and I was surprised to learn that the only way that element would be considered is if the on field ref asked for it to be. This to me is a real flaw in the system, because the on field ref has dozens of things to consider at any given moment and can be forgiven for missing something like that, but when it's put right in front of you that the first defender in the tackle has gained an advantage by breaking the rules it seems crazy that the video ref can't deny it on those grounds.
Not that any of that detracts from the lunacy of what Martin did, just personally I'd like to see that changed, similarly when teams are defending and intercept a pass or a kick and go full length - the first thing that should be checked is if they were onside or not. I don't understand why they're not.
Finally, while I'm on a rant about the rules, something needs to be done about 6 again on the first tackle (or when in your own 20), because the 6 again we got just before Martin's brain fart didn't help us at all, but delaying the restart put the Catalans defence in a position where they could do what they did. I'm all for speeding the game up, but an extra tackle is neither a fitting reward or punishment for the infraction.
Still, delighted with that second half, so overall happy!
