Michael Maguire for the short time he was here. Although the competition for that honour hasnt been great imo, as Justin Holbrook is proving now. Darryl powell from the british coaches, done a brilliant job taking cas from where they were to where they are now, also did a lot of good work for us just before Tony Smith took over, would love him back at Leeds at some point.

Give over, we’re you asleep all season? Without the Segeyaro signing we were gone, no doubt about it.
As for your question of who better last ten years in this comp. that depends what your measurement is. Most would be the true answer. But if it is only trophy’s then of course none. But the whole point is, super league is a doomed competition because of the likes of McDermott and his ilk. Between them they have taken our game backwards by many years. The longer they stay in the game at the top, the worse our comp becomes. To measure against one another is a pointless excersise, more important is what could have been with truer quality coaches.

| This Team/Squad needs quality adding to it but it also needs different ideas or game-plans even more so with so many injuries.
The Trophy count is beyond question but the adaptability to different challenges i.e New Players/injuries and plan A not working is clearly missing.
I include everyone within that as well Coaches GH and Players.
To simply say it's injuries and shrug it off IN MY OPINION is absolute rubbish.
Other Teams have adapted and still produced decent performances/wins so why shouldn't we?
I've said it many times id rather see a TEAM of kids having a dig and losing playing decent RL than the current efforts served up.
Past success doesn't make this ok nor should it GH has a history of being ruthless with players and Coaches so why not continue that approach?
The losing is never a problem it's how we lose why we lose and then continually repeat the same mistakes i.e picking injured players ,picking players out of form & the same predictable game plan.
I don't think i's unreasonable to question any of this irrespective of previous records and it's always done on a "Here and Now" approach.
We can agree to disagree without the petty name calling and the "are you fan"? BS
If we were playing in the lower divisions I've no doubt whatsoever most will still be following the Club but personally id still question a poor performance recruitment etc should it occur and why not?

| it's not what macdermotts won in the past it's now and the future.evety coach has a shelf life and he's reached his. watch the U19's. burrow has them organised and they have shape.evety player knows his job. the first team is a shambles. injuries or not it should be miles better. people using injuries as an excuse are blinkered. you can still be organised and competitive. I wish mac had gone at the end of last year. on a high and on his terms. I can't see this getting any better

| My own view on McDermott is that he is going nowhere so theres no point harping on about him every time we lose. Its a waste of energy.
Whos been the best coach in SL in last 10 years? Trent Robinson for me. A superb coach who built a culture in Perpignan that no other coach has got close to. Done a tremendous job with Roosters since returning to the NRL. He will end up coaching NSW at some point.

| It’s pointless trying to have a discussion. You have all decided that everything is McDermott’s fault. Then for some reason GH is coming under fire for not spending money. It’s beyond any form of logic or reason.
We win, it’s not down to McD, we lose, it’s down to McD and GH because he’s not spent money. I’m done with this board, a bunch of self interested snowflakes that can’t think further than the last loss.

Maguire brought a style of rugby to this country that was roundly criticised, wigan were a horrible team to watch under him and they still have some of that in them.
Tony Smith was a great coach whi got criticised. Onhere just like McDermott
Powell will become a great coach when he can actually coach a team to win something and his incessant whinging does him no favours

Yes a great coach although coaching NSW is no barometer of a decent coach

Despite the flounce and the egregious snowflake usage you’re spot on, everyone of these posts sbout GH McDermott and the team being past it have been rinsed and repeated on here for 7 years s now

No I don’t enjoy it in the slightest, that is the point. Played and watched continuously at all levels since 1978, and it pains me to see what the game as become in this country, especially since 2010 onwards. It is horrendous at times. My own club are as boring and turgid as anyone else. I go because it is a family thing, with dad, previously grandad also, and with kids. Kids are getting more bored each week, a generation along with other families that will be lost to the game once stopped.
I used to watch four or five games a day. I struggle sitting through one now. Absolutely irks me that union has taken over us for entertainment. And it is all down to the poor coaching in place at our top clubs. Bring the Aussies back in and we might get back to an acceptable level again.
