Ouch
Which week were Melbourne back up to full strength in the NRL?
I stopped looking after week 6 or so as you were clearly unable or simply unwilling to contribute further.

| Whenever the "Lazenby Cup" is mentioned it takes me back to byegone days at Parkside with a very partisan crowd packed into this historic old ground with the spectators very close to the touchline. My father told me one year he remembered a Hunslet fan leaning out and tripping up a Leeds winger with an umberella thereby preventing a try!
Is this what they mean by the home crowd being worth 6 points? Or was it just an away trip?

| Those comments by your father, JC, take me back to the Lazenby Cup of old when Hunslet's fervour was something to be feared and there were some stirring encounters featruring the likes of Geoff Gunney, Brian Gabbitas and Dennis Hartley. A great atmosphere in a packed Parkside ground imbued with its own special character due to a journey to the ground from Belle Isle over smouldering slag heaps.

Yes I remember that atmosphere and those great players well (including your namesake). That walk down to the ground from the cinema was quite intimidating for we Leeds fans and the walk back up after the match even more so!

Only if he pulled off the same stunt twice.

| I must admit it's the one thing that makes me sad about how the second half of the 20th century developed as far as the city of Leeds is concerned. How powerhouses like Hunslet as an area and ultimately as a club declined so rapidly until only todays shadows of their former selves remain.
Can you imagine today a Leeds/Hunslet derby being moved to Elland Road and attracting a full house?
That's why I slightly envy our fish smelling brethren from umbersard as they know what a proper city derby match is all about.

| My dad was a parksider followed them all over too. He stopped following when they started ground hopping on a regular basis. The fact that in his own words that by the end parkside was "20 times worse than belle vue" speaks volumes to me. Not forgetting that hunslet went from a residential area to an industrial/commercial one in the space of a few years spreading the community to the four winds didn't help either. Definatly a case of what could have been.

Hunslet Hawks 26 Leeds Rhinos 36

It’s nice to hear that Kyle Amor is doing well considering that Luke Ambler is on loan to Harlequins. Amor wasn’t looking all that promising in the first team last year. But he’s certainly shut me up after that performance he put in for England v Cumbria. Its pleasing to know that he's kept his game up after that one!
