That's a question a few are asking on various forums now given the chance we've blown and considering how well Norwich have done.
I went to the Reading game mate and other than score we could'nt of done any more although it's shocking Paynter gets a start before Somma and bannan is our best passer yet has'nt played recently.
I think we've done well and with some more quality added pre-season then SG will get us up if not Papa Smurf will have the p45 ready.

| Loving hell, a couple of dodgy results and we're questioning our manager again. There are far better playing squads out the in the Championship, this bunch of players are on the whole untested at that level, we are over achieving if we finish 9th.

| A couple of dodgy results - more like two points out of a possible 15 when the going got tough.
Perhaps a few are questioning the manager because of his team selections, substitutions, tactics - or lack of if plan A fails.
Today was a disgrace. Palace maybe fighting for the lives, but that is a damn lot more than we are doing - hoofball will never get us back to where we want to be.
The loanees need sending back, the dross sorted out and some quality added to the squad if we are to seriously challenge for promotion next season.

| As a neutral who watches Leeds a lot, I think not going up this year is a blessing in disguise for you! One more year will see them get the players they need not only for promotion, but to compete in the Premier League!

| We have been poor just when you need to go on a good run but that's typical Leeds. Why he continues with Paynter is beyond me, he offers nothing whatsoever. We rely heavily on Gradel and Snodgrass to create for us plus Howson the odd game but mainly the other two and when Paynter is playing it's hard for them to create alot when he doesn't have great movement or hold up play.
Our midfield is the weak area of our team but it's as if Larry is oblivious to it. Games are won and lost with the midfield battle and we dont have any battle in us so when the going gets tough in their we gets overrun and out muscled but he's not done anything about it all season. Bannan isn't that sort of player and that Livermore looks worse than some of the options we've currently got. None of our midfield can tackle, the best is probably Johnson and he's not great.
When we come up against a quality side it shows, the likes of Swansea and Cardiff run us ragged as if we were playing Arsenal on top form. We've blown it now but they've done a good job this year, we're 9th and it's the lowest we've been since October. I'd have taken that before the season. We need to finish this year off and get planning for next season and who he's bringing in. Get all the loans sent back, get Johnson and Kilkenny cleared off as they are both OOC and i'm glad they haven't signed contracts because we need better quality than them for us to improve on this year. I dont mind the kid who scored today Danns from Palace, he's not a bad midfielder in this league(when he's not hacking people down and getting sent off), i'd be happy with someone like him coming in but we need 2 or 3 midfielders at least. The back 4 need sorting out, who's staying and going and i'd get rid of Paynter, he's not proven at this level and doesn't look like he'll do much either. We've got Becchio, Somma and McCormack which is enough. But the main thing for any new signings is that they are quality and atleast better than who they are replacing.

| I agree with that LS14. If Grayson does not significantly improve the midfield and defence over the summer then questions will rightly be asked. I still think this squad has overachieved this season.

| Got to question why he's been playing Paynter and not Somma, or even giving McCormack a chance all season, but no way should we get rid of Larry.

| I agree that the selection of Paynter over Somma is a mystery. I also don't see wtf Bannan has done to get dropped.

| I think the problems lie in midfield. Hopefully over the summer we can address them, as well as lose Kilkenny & JOhnson.
On Somma vs Paynter, I think that they are just different types of player. Paynter is a poormans Becchio, so in theory slots into the system well.

Hoof it up to the big front man is the worst tactic in football.

Somma does struggle sometimes when playing upfront on his own although to be fair he's hardly had the chance to prove himself. He's new to this country and the club, for his first season he's done a cracking job IMO. His goals to minutes played must be very impressive. It's annoying when Becchio is out and Larry keeps giving Paynter the chance yet he never takes it and looks a poor striker in this league, plus he's got 1 goal all season. Somma is much more worthy of the spot over him and McCormack must be sick of never playing, especially when players like Watt are getting brought on before him.
I was excited when Bannan signed, he'd looked a very promising player at Villa and i was looking forward to seeing him play but he's hardly had a kick. He's been starting Livermore the past few games and he's looked poor to me and was lucky not to get sent off against Reading, he got subbed at half time in both games. Then Kilkenny has come on both times, surely Bannan should be infront of Kilkenny. We know what Killa offers and it's not a great deal, Bannan is a better passer and that's Kilkenny's main strength. Sometimes i dont understand Larry's thinking and his decisions, it's like him swapping the defence round all season. Bruce has all of a sudden dropped out of the reckoning, Bromby came in now it's Naylor. We've got Lichaj who's a right back playing left back. Some big decisions need making and some big changes, i'm sure he'll be scouting the market for players out of contract and i'm sure money will again no doubt be tight even if we do cash in on the likes of Gradel and Snodgrass but we need some better quality bringing in.
The Palace midfielder Neil Danns who scored against us is OOC this summer and has refused a new contract with them so is obviously on his way. Hopefully Larry gets him a good offer made and makes him one of his first signings although i'm sure there'll be plenty of teams after him on a free, Hull are rumoured to be after him.
Does anyone know what's happened to young Aidy White? Is he out on loan or is he back at the club.
We've also got a young centre half on loan at Bury, Tom Lees he's called and he's been there all season. I think he's about 20 year old and has played 40+ games for them, they are currently second and got promoted yesterday. He's been scoring plenty of goals the past few games aswell for a CB, maybe one to look out for next season.
