I pointed out exactly why you might not be right, you don't like that though.

Quote: RHINO-MARK "It took a while to end the CC jinx but they did it eventually no? Simple question would this side be better with or without them & have more chance if winning games like today?
We both know the answer & it's been glaringly obvious since they left.'"

Might have a better chance but they've retired, let's get over it and it's not like they're ready made like for like replacements for those players running around.

All the talk about Sinfield and Peacock and another coach.

Question did Sinfield and Peacock + co win a CC under McClennen, under Smith, under Powell?

Seem to recall a SF loss to Hudds in2006 that was much worst than today, losing to Hull in a final, getting walloped by Warrington in 2010.

For the majority of the 21st century we've been dumped out of the cup in disappointing fashion regardless of players or coach. The only who has landed is the cup is actually McDermott. McClennen, Smith, Powell and Lance all failed.

we looked like a team that had given up. 2 points dropped last week, Salford, Hull & Wakey will be on our backs now.... We will finish 5th if things dont change! Ite now time for a new coach!

Not seen the game.

However, overall I don't think there's too much to be overly negative about. I think the current team is decent, but the difference from before is that then we could say ''if we turn up at our best....'' whereas now if one of the other top teams is at their best we're likely to come up short.

We still have a good chance at getting to old trafford and winning, we're second with only the league to focus on now whereas it's guaranteed 2 of our rivals (hull and salford/wigan) will be playing in the CC final.

Yep. Tackling was all over. Fatal not to synchronise and hit in 2s and 3s against a big pack. Instead, one would-be tackler was regularly distracted by the support runner on the shoulder of the ball carrier who then made almost endless metres at times.

First crunch game of the season and we have been beaten in all aspects of the game. Unfortunately several of our squad are pedestrian in the extreme. Our pack was annilated in the second half, ferres not fit should never have been on the pitch. Absolutely no venom in our tackling, the hull forwards rolled us over thus preventing any quick ruck speed. We neither had the speed or energy to inflict the same on the hull pack. Briscoe was so poor I felt sorry for him. Surely he can't play next week. Passing the ball across the field woeful, players receiving the ball virtually stood still. If anybody thinks myler will bring anything to this team they are sadly mistaken. Surely a place must be found for walker, even if it's just on the bench.

Erm, no you didn't...

You posted some crap about how the better team won, I agree they did, but nothing about why we could slip to the outer in terms of silverware for another 5 years.

I think the squad is as good as any other in a pretty poor league, maybe wigans slightly stronger when fully fit. If we had a coach who gave the players the best chance to play well a lot of them wouldnt look as poor as they do at present....I wouldnt swap squads with castleford but id swap coaches in a heartbeat and if that happened id be confident of challenging for trophys.

Hull pack were too much for Leeds as game wore on, particularly watts and minichello.

Hull were very good. Leeds pretty average overall. Hull stopped Cuthbertson well and Leeds had little to offer ball in hand as game wore on.

Be interesting to see how rest of year plays out but we look too one-paced and with too many average players to threten at year end for mine..

FWIW I think McDermott was right to rest them last week, big test v Wigan on friday

There may not be ready made replacements but you at least A.Try to recruit quality & B.Adapt a gameplan to suit the squad you do have.
Wrt 2006 today was easily on a par if not worse imo.
You say lets get over it now Sinfield & JP have gone that's fine but it's becoming clearer that others need to move on aswell on & off the field.
This "New Era" is going to need a fresh approach fresh ideas & better recruitment.

While I get the argument about Sinfield et al putting in some dire performances back in the day, the main difference between then and now is that that side had shown itself capable of beating any other on its day. The current one has yet to do that and indeed may never do so.

On the day Hull were very good they executed a perfect game plan, two bits of Hall brilliance flattered Leeds on the score sheet.

As Printer has said one game doesn't make a season but it did highlight a few things.

This team hasn't won a crucial game since the GF of 2015 - is it actually capable?

The forwards - Ward apart - look slow cumbersome and ineffective - Hull easily neutralised them and they ran out gas after 35 minutes despite having a week off. The idea that JJB should play on until he decides he has had enough is flawed.

The team needs some attacking structure - if McDermott cannot coach attack then either he goes or he brings in an assistant who can. Moon at half back does work against a defence that keeps its shape

Watkins is criminally under used - what a player he is - Briscoe is criminally over used - he should not play again until he develops the ability to catch the ball.

Based on that performance it would suggest Leeds' position in the table is not a true reflection of the current state of play

On the other side both Hull and Wigan - cant see Salford getting close - will have the distraction of the cup so the super 8s might be easier - Friday night will be an interesting night
